unshakeable faith ... (religiorant)

believers often claim to have unshakeable faith, well, what part of "unshakeable" allows them to get upset at anything that somehow conflicts with their faith?

for example, many christians will tout creationism and nothing else; but if they truly believe in their god making the universe, then to get upset at theories like evolution and the big bang because they somehow displace their god then their actions are merely indications that their faith is lacking..

but the thing is, it's *god*, if god was actually real, then nothing is supposedly greater, yet something that is supposedly "just a theory" is able to knock their god off its pedestal?

what's that about?

ahem, it seems to be that, just like evolution, "god" is just a theory too, because if you truly had faith in your god, nothing could possibly break this faith of yours, *ever*.

or is this god of yours, just your ego and its lack of imagination? because it seems to me that if your god can be displaced somehow, then that is because this god of yours is one that you made up, therefore, this god of yours, is only as clever as you think you are, which is also why your ego gets bruised when some mortal thing can displace a thing that was previously supposed to be the domain of your god.

if you believe in both god and accept evolution as well, then good for you I say, because if there is a god, then evolution is how we got here... if there is no god, then evolution is how we got here as well!!

ie. we shouldn't be able to tell the difference anyway

It also occurs to me that if the christian god really did make the universe 6000 years ago, then i don't *want* to believe in a being that has deliberately set up the universe such that we waste our time exploring and trying to understand all of these things that clearly show the universe to be older than 6000 years

the god argument is over... you ALL lost (religiorant)

who cares if your god exists?

anyone arguing for the existence of their god, ie. something that can't be proven either way, has already lost said argument...

people arguing against god, mostly do that for fun to pass the time, as it's a lot easier to *not* care about what you are arguing about when you do *not* believe in it, just as it is harder to *not* care when you *do* believe in something...

LONG BLOG

a lot of people like to put forward reasons as to why god might exist, eg. love, charity, the fact we are here, The Clouds (I love that band!!) and a lot of people, like me, do the same as to why god might not exist, eg. hate, war, death, the fact that we are here, The Clouds (I love that band!!), but it's an argument that could never be won, so why do people keep arguing?

Most people are too arrogant to consider that they are wrong when it comes to god, as somehow, they *know* about god. So out of all of the sentient beings in the *whole* universe, *they* know something that has never been categorically shown to exist... hmmm...

I do the god arguing thing for fun, to entertain myself, and if somebody else is entertained or even taught something useful (believer or non-believer) then that's a bonus, because i don't care which way you go, as long as you know what you are getting yourself into. As long as it does no harm, to children or puppies especially, then i've no problem with it, but if you do believe, always remember that belief is *nothing* more than a personal opinion.

So whatever you think about it, GOD can't be proven either way, so get over your self if you think you "know" there is, or isn't a god.

The most prudent thing to do in relation to god, is to shut the fuck up about it if you are expecting people to come around to your way of thinking... Me, I just don't care enough either way to argue the point with seriousness, as I just don't take it seriously.

But in saying that, I have been known to argue with someone who wants to argue, because I am the sort of person that wants to hear what the other person has to say and take them to the extreme in their explaining away their god, i can't win an argument such as this, but by asking questions about the other person's god, you can argue the other person into a position of *losing* their point, which is always funny... especially when they have a tantrum over the questions you ask...

You can't win the "is there a god?" argument, but making the other person throw tantrums means you have found a flaw in their thinking...

THE NEUTRAL POSITION

Assuming the neutral position is like knowing that you can't swim upstream against the current, so instead of trying, you channel your energy into something more useful, like traversing the river from side to side, and as perilous as it can be sometimes, getting to the other side without getting washed downstream is possible and is a win in my books.

People who argue for what can't be proven either way, are demanding that you accept their opinion, they have no proof, they *never* will have proof, so they demand and *expect* you to take their word for it!

screw that! I get insulted by these people when they want me to "just" convert to their lies, as their god/religion may be true enough to them in their hearts, but it doesn't make it true at all to me and people who do are arrogant and selfish to think that their opinion counts more than mine.

People that demand that you believe the same as them, are stuck in that river that you can easily cross, and the river current is sweeping them along with it because they are expending all their energy trying to swim upstream against the current.

the sad bit is that the river bed that the current is following, is being created on the fly by themselves, i doubt these people are aware of this.

And this is all well and good if you stay in the middle of the flow, and a lot of people live their whole lives without finding out that they are telling themselves lies, but every now and then, they *will* hit the sides or get caught on a rock and while they are stuck there they will notice that the whole river they've been flowing along with, is just an illusion and that reality is far worse than the little stream / river / waterfall that is their life; and that scares them, which is why they jumped into the stream in the first place... because of their FEAR of the immenseness of the universe, and that they are just specks of dust on a speck of dust, and no-one wants to feel "small", people WANT a connection to something bigger and there is nothing bigger than inventing a connection to the alleged creator of the universe.

Sad as it is, everyone does have a connection to something bigger *already*, it's called Planet Earth, and if you want to take being connected to something bigger even further, *energy* is everywhere in the universe, there is energy in your body, there is energy in space, there is energy everywhere, therefore, by *default* you *are* connected to a bigger entity. So worship the universe if you want to worship something bigger than you.

But believers, because they get accustomed to their regular comfy wet and warm ride, what happens when they hit a snag and reality comes crashing down is that they will see a great big blank desert of reality around them.. empty... but at least there are millions of stars above you to reach towards.

GOD CAN NOT BE DIS-PROVEN OR PROVEN *EVER*

even if there had been a billion years of human technological advances that would see us be able to reach the very edge of the universe, even if we could coax the entire Andromeda galaxy into a path such that it won't run into us in a billion years, I still can not see how god's existence could be proven either way..

But these people, swept up and away by the religious current, take any affront to their god as upsetting because it adds extra weight to their comfy journey downstream, and too much weight, will see them sink to the bottom and every person who frets about their god existing, even slightly, is bound to have some sort of "snapping" point where something is going to confront them with something that will fulfil their worst fear that god doesn't exist, but that's okay, they can always just move the goal post back, or change the rules in some way, after a temper tantrum and some mental gymnastics, of course.

but let's just end that argument right here and now.

There is just no way *Ever* to prove or disprove god's existence - even if we could step outside our *dimension* somehow, or something as mundane as go back in time, there is still just no way the argument can be won, either in the positive or the negative!

are the god defenders worried that proof of god will be found? and that god is not quite what they imagined? or that god is dead?

maybe this is what all the religious bullshit is about, that once we stopped fretting over what doesn't really matter, we would be mature enough to leave the planet? .... *sigh*

YOU CAN NOT WIN OUTRIGHT, BUT YOU *CAN* LOSE

If you went back and saw the big bang happen, if you were able to fast forward through the entire history of earth such you could *watch* the evolution of man - you would *still* have no proof of god either way, and if humans were capable of doing such incredible things, it still doesn't mean god is displaced!

How fucking stupid is that? you have a god that can do anything, and yet you have people worried that we humans are able to be do things that only god could do, I'm sorry, but if humans can outdo god, then you *REALLY* need to have a sit down and think about what your god is about because it really does sound like you did NOT think about it, you only assumed god could do the things that *You* couldn't do.

sheeesh!

IT'S YOU! IT'S ALL YOU!!!

But you can always lose an argument that can't be won, in fact, technically speaking, just being *in* an argument that can't be won, means you have already lost that argument, especially when you were expecting a result in your favour!

The trick is not to take sides at all in such a pointless argument, and by not taking a side, you can *not* lose, because when the other person tries and fails to win the argument, it means that the neutral position wins, by default, at least it does in my world!

the bible/qur'an/whatever has been written, it is finished. People claim that the bible can be relevant and adapt to today's situations, bullshit, it is not scripture that adapts, it's *you* that is making it adapt.

It's *you* - it's ALL *you* - this whole time, it was all you.

Jesus / Moses / Muhammad, have all come and gone, real or not, whatever they were going to say, has been said. Jesus for instance, had a message that was fairly simple, but some christians insist on saying the bible is complicated and that you need to study it, at length, in order to "get" it...

pffft!! dumbarses!

I sometimes get the impression that bibliomaniacal persons throw such tantrums and demand such things so that they can claim exclusivity over it!!

ie. if you demand that i do something that i am not interested in, I will most likely reject it out of spite to annoy you for imposing this opinion of yours upon me that i don't even care for. This applies no *matter* what it is that you are bullshitting about.

fine, believers want us to convert, okay fine, but then when we do attempt to read their dribble to find what it is that is so fucking fantastical, and then we find holes in it, we are then told - "oh you *just* need to believe" in order to understand!!

Oh! here we go again.... *rolls*eyes*

NO! WE DO NOT **JUST** NEED TO BELIEVE IN YOUR BULLSHIT TO BELIEVE IN YOUR BULLSHIT! SHEESH! BROKEN RECORD MUCH?

AN AMALGAMATED GLOBAL SOCIETY

if some remarkably brilliant lost chapter/book of the bible is found in the future (if one hasn't been found already), it would be rejected based upon its content if it were to upset the status quo ...

if this newly discovered book fitted in with the rest of the bible, it would make no difference to the overall message *anyway*, now would it? so its addition would make no difference, right!?!?! The point is, the bible won't be changed, *ever*, there is too much "vested" interest in the status quo...

therefore, the bible is over, it's not going to grow with us... people clinging to the bible remind me of Linus from Peanuts, with his dirty security blanket he takes everywhere with him... it's dirty, it's ikky, it smells, but he still takes it everywhere, because it makes him feel warm and fuzzy because that's what he is familiar with.

the same thing applies to any religion, probably more so for some.

in the amalgamated global culture we are hopefully moving towards with heaps of different people coming together from all walks of life in peace, there is no point confining your "World" view to one philosophy (eg. the bible/koran/torah/blah blah blah) any more.

how can you expect to get along with people if they don't share the same values from your "world view" most of which have nothing to do with everyday life? ... one philosophy obviously doesn't cut it - not any more - one "world" view that doesn't actually cater to the entire world, is arrogant, it's separatist, bigoted, and it is an example of closed mindedness in its most abundant...

that's like the World Series in baseball, how many countries play in that? it's like, two countries isn't it? how is that a "world" series? to call this sport a "world series" is selfish, as it's implying that the rest of the world isn't good enough to play baseball, and watch all the americans jumping up and down after reading that paragraph, that's exactly what i am talking about. SELFISHNESS

that is what religion and belief in god is all about, it's about being SELFISH in the notion that YOU are cleverer than everyone else because *YOU* have the correct belief system, and unlike a game of baseball, these religious notions of one group being better than the rest, is keeping people from different walks of life apart. Not to mention the wars fought over opinions about god.

There is no point in re-reading the word of your god over and over, because obviously if there is a god and we don't know which group has *the* religion, isn't it best to grab the best things from every religion and move on without dwelling over any of the negativity associated with these so called "moral guides" that don't fit in with a global society?

This applies to the Bible, the Qu'ran and any other fantasy fiction supernatural holy scripture story that doesn't (or can't or won't) adapt to a changing society.

so as to the argument of god existing?

there is a god? well so what? ......

there is no god? again, so what?

who cares? what difference does it make if god exists or not??

are you going to change who you are just because god exists or doesn't exist?

if you lose your faith, would you stop being a "good" person?

well.... would you?

ARE YOU THAT FICKLE, THAT SOMETHING, THAT CAN NOT BE PROVEN EITHER WAY, IS THE ENTIRE BASIS OF THE MORAL CHARACTER OF YOUR EXISTENCE????

how fucking shallow can some people be?

having a god as your moral guide-rail would seem to be a crutch, because if you suddenly lost this god and went off the track, would you then give yourself a license to run amok, seeing how god was the only thing that made you "good"???

well.... would you?

if that's you, and you claim that you would be lost with out god/Jesus/allah/etc, then please, *please*, retain your belief system, you weak minded fool, because you are so fucked in the head that the damage has been done already, and you would only make things worse by giving away your belief system, so you might as well stick to your brain washing...

Muslims stone people to death for disgracing their families in the eyes of god, eg. if a muslim woman/girl admits to being raped without having four male muslim witnesses to back up her story, *she* has committed adultery for admitting to the rape... she is then punished for her "crime" and I've read of several "mercy" killings where the daughter is killed by the father or brother in order to restore "honour" to the family, in Islamic countries, these people are given *lighter* punishments because it is somehow partially acceptable in their society to kill people if you are preserving the honour of your family....

imagine what barbarism Islame would come up with if Admiral Allah Ackbar wasn't keeping them in line? IT'S A TRAP!!!!

Imagine those christians who want to bomb Iran (ie. christians for israel), what if they suddenly stopped believing?? would they then go nuts and have whatever military machine they can round up, go and bomb the middle east back to the bronze age?

If you *need* god to be "good" yourself, then you have a really fucking pathetic idea of what is "good", meaning that the *only* rational and prudent thinking about god, is to not take any side at all, because no-one knows shit about god, so the only way to win, is to not argue at all, or to at least keep in mind that when you argue this notion that god does or doesn't exist, that "winning" is not something you should try to do, because it's never going to be possible to win that argument.

the free will aspect of religion ... (religiorant)

the free will aspect of religion, is quite an interesting one, and to me, shows the biggest flaw in the whole god story, at least the christian/judeo/islameo one

god supposedly gave us free will, right?

so "in the beginning" it's possible that by giving us free will, god may have just given up the ability to interfere with our lives, let's just say that it was effectively a "we are on our own" sort of deal, so we get to make our own choices and make our way into heaven or not, a "test" if you want to think of it that way. This is the apparent goal of being in a religion, to get to "heaven" in the afterlife at least in the christian story, we need to earn it to get in, by being good people... apparently

so let's cut god some slack at first as god may just know every trillion possible things we might do, but it isn't sure what we will actually do... so, god, could only guess that we would screw up but hope for the best.. so god makes Adam and Eve, and the evidence of what we do with "free will" starts to accumulate

but Adam and Eve screwed up, Eve ate from the tree of knowledge and Adam went and ate from it too, after being told not to, free will and such.. so thus far 100% of god's "perfect" creation have stuffed up.. not looking so perfect now, so god punishes these two for screwing up, but you know, let's cut god a little bit more slack, because now god knows to expect us to screw up, and punishing us was designed to make us behave...

so then Adam and Eve have a couple of kids, Cain and Abel, and eventually Cain goes and kills Abel.. #fail .. so 75% of god's first four "perfect" creations are a stuff up, and the other 25% was murdered..

god is off to such a fantastic start, wasn't it?

so given the extreme failure rate of god's "free will" experiment in the first four attempts, instead of interfering and giving Adam and Eve and Cain a set of commandments to live their lives by ... "thou shalt not murder" would have been a good one for Cain, but no, god doesn't do anything.. oh he puts a mark on Cain's head, to warn the *other* people he might encounter.. ahem... what other people? where did the other people come from again? anyhooo

so then we run amok for another 1000yrs or so, mating with demons and giants and such, but then god suddenly decides that it needs to eliminate the earth of "evil" because apparently it exists because we are half demons or something, and the blood line needs to be restored to perfect again or something like that ... you know, I'm not sure what evil is but Cain having sex with his mother is rather evil i think, because just who did Cain marry anyway? but anyhooo

so god wipes out every creature on earth except for two of every creature to repopulate the earth (i won't mention inbreeding again or ask how the Kangaroos and Koalas got to Australia from Mt Frikking Ararat, either)

god gave us free will? if this is true, the "great flood" is testament to the fact that god fucked up, there is no polite way to say it.. if we had free will, then god killing everyone on earth, well, doesn't that mean god forfeited our "free will", god made a mistake by allowing evil to exist, god thought it was clever and knew all, perhaps god did know everything, but let us become evil anyway.. perhaps god let its *ego*, in arrogance, convince itself it could do this whole universe thing just as well as all the other gods do in their universes ...

but ... what does god do after the flood? nothing! why didn't god give some commandments over to Noah? that way "everyone on earth" would have had the opportunity to learn at least some desert morals ..

but no, god didn't, god let us descend into blasphemy and debauchery *again*, knowing full well that there was a very good chance we would go that way anyway, but perhaps god told its ego again in pride, that "that evil thing won't happen again!!!" but then after a 1000yrs or so of that, god gets jack of it and sends Moses down the Nile, to then lead the Israelites into and out of the desert or something like that, along the way picking up the 10 commandments, finally we get moral instructions..

so god, gave us free will, but after 3000yrs of that, god suddenly and finally finds a clue, and gets the idea that we need guidance... derrrr

*that* should have been very obvious to god after the first four people, Adam / Eve / Cain / Abel .. but no, god thought he'd hang back and hope (more arrogance and pride?) that we'd get better at this whole "life" thing, but after all that time of seeing our failures, like when every person at that very nanosecond when we make a wrong decision, god goes "NOOOO!!!! don't do that!!.. awwwwww.... he went and *did* that!" as if god is watching us like we do when we watch some sort of dramatic TV show...

so god gave us some hints with the ten commandments... "free will" to do things other than these ten things.. but how did that ten commandments thing go anyway? not very well, seeing how god sent Jesus! this time dumbing it down to just *two* commandments, and how did that go? by the 500s the thousand years of intellectual vacuum was well under way with the dark ages, thanks god

so this perfect jealous god keeps making stuff ups this entire time, with everyone on earth paying for that mistake at one stage!?!? i don't think so, if god was "perfect", as is written, then god would not have changed tactics every thousand years or so ... a perfect god would be able to move two molecules of hydrogen together to set off a chain reaction and have everything perfect align itself exactly how god imagined it a trillion trillion years later ...

oh.. but of course, it's all easily explained by us being the masters of our *own* destinies and that god is something we just made up to *blame* and *thank* when we have no idea what else to do, so this god being, is "just a story" all made up by man, because if god was perfect, we would be none the wiser about it, but this god people speak about *is* flawed, which points the finger right back at it's flawed creator... us!

the most popular book on earth "the bible", is flawed right from its first page ... in the beginning god makes the light, but then a couple of days later ... god makes the sun ... which makes the light ...

there is no such thing as an atheist, not really (religiorant)

i don't consider my an atheist .. nor do i think about myself as being "spiritual" and i certainly don't fit the model of a religious person either ... but having said that, atheist is still probably the nearest term used to describe my lack of belief, but atheism is not a label i would wear, because it doesn't mean anything to me, so why would I call myself an atheist?

but don't worry if you do call yourself an atheist, some people *hate* atheism, the same people that tout a philosophy of love and tolerance for everyone, I do believe.

So that's one reason to call yourself an atheist, it *pisses* religious people off, but there is also another reason to actually call yourself an atheist, and that's to let it be known that it's OK to be an atheist, maybe I just had an open upbringing, because it never occurred to me either way that believing or not believing, *actually* mattered.

and for those two reasons, I would call myself an atheist, because there is great satisfaction in doing NOTHING AT ALL and knowing that doing NOTHING AT ALL and that believing in NOTHING AT ALL actually *pisses* the religious off!

religion is dying, the fact that the mere existence of non-believers is enough to rattle the alleged unshakeable faith of the "faithful" is more than enough of a pathetic example to show that religion is in its death throes... if there really is a biblical god, then god is going to be far more pissed at those people claiming to be believers but have their faith rattled by *NOTHING*AT*ALL*, than those who admit upfront that they don't know what to think about god or those who deny its existence outright.

so just what does atheism mean to me??

"atheism" doesn't really mean that much to me, but I did briefly call myself an atheist, but that was just a fad to "fit" in

now I'm not going to grab a dictionary and cut and paste that definition to you, because it's obvious to me that the definition of atheism is so far up in the air, that far more meaning is given to the term "atheism" than it deserves, regardless of the dictionary definition. eg. amongst other things, the following have been labelled as "atheist" things or people.

communism, fascists, russians, germans, nazis, stalin, hitler, evolution, genocide, eugenics, racial purity blah blah blah.. the list goes on... somehow, all of these things are linked to atheism by at least some foolish people, but how can that be? they should not be!! .... but thanks to idiotic assumptions and prejudices from judgemental "christians", they are associated with atheism *anyway*

This misunderstanding of what atheism is, is often demonstrated, and it's not something that we should let slide either, so seeing how everyone else is making up their own definition of "atheism", I'm going to use *my*own* definition as well, but let's see if you agree with it first...

Atheism is the complete lack of believing in any god and/or any religion..

simple right? what part of that is too complicated for the mentally challenged "christians" out there?

It should be simple, because in other words, there is nothing to atheism *apart* from the negative assertion of not believing in god or religion, so it can't be any much more simpler than *nothing*.

If atheism was somehow my job, I would be paid to do nothing!

My definition of atheism is such that .. NOBODY SHOULD EVEN NEED TO SAY THAT THEY ARE AN ATHEIST, because, in essence, you aren't declaring what you are, you are declaring what you are NOT, and since when do people go around admitting to things that they aren't?

I know for a fact that some christians go around telling people they believe in christ, they tell me all the time, with the often obvious and rude implication, that *I* should too.

And let us not forget that these people have assumed that i was not a christian in the first place (heard of Matthew Chapter 7 Verse 1 much?) because they didn't *ask* me if I believed or not when they have told me to believe in Jesus!! no, what they did was took one look at me, and thought "OH MY GOD!! *HE* NEEDS JESUS RIGHT NOW!" .. that's rude, if your dumbarse didn't realise!

Now I know I wasn't a very church going little christchimp, but people telling me to believe in Jesus, were *exactly* the people who turned me off the whole thing... moral of the story, shut the fuck up before you put anybody else off your religion, oh wait that's *right*, you can't HELP YOURSELF... so carry on destroying your religion... it's hilarious...

LABELS ARE STUPID ANYWAY

So to the stupidity of labelling yourself an atheist, urrr.. you don't go around telling people that you are *not* wearing a hat do you? that you are *not* a stamp collector, that you are *not* an astronaut, that you are *not* going to have bacon, eggs and sausages for dinner, do you? Do you walk up to pretty girls or handsome guys and tell them that you are *not* gay or straight, depending which way your spoon bends, do you?

well?

So why then, do you need to *tell* people that you are NOT religious? Why do you need to tell people that you do NOT believe in god? why do you need to tell people that you do NOT follow the bible/qu'ran/torah?

You should only ever mention these things when it's the topic of conversation, and you should never be the one to start that conversation either, as it should *never* occur to you to say out of the blue that you are an atheist in the same way that Jesus followers insist that they are "christians" with their god-damned fucking megaphones, and those "christians" should not need to do that either, being a christian should be fucking obvious by how overly nice and helpful they are being!

Oh thanks for helping me pick up my books off the ground, you *must* be a christian..

Part of the problem, is that atheists GIVE a positive answer when they are asked what their beliefs are, you don't have beliefs if you are an atheist (well at least supernatural beliefs) and your answer SHOULD reflect this.

When people ask you what your religion is, you should NEVER say "atheism" as your religion. *EVER*

You *should* say, "I don't believe in anything" .. or if you want to simplify it even further, say "NONE" or "NOTHING!" .. or better still... shrug your shoulders as if to say "religion? what's that? isn't that that thing that caused the dark ages?"

or even better still *yet* - tell them that you are human, and then ask them in return "What are you? are you not a human first before your religion? because if you are not, then you can fuck off with trying to speak to me from this point onwards..."

Humanity *trumps* religion, put your religion before humanity, and *you* are belittling humanity, and seriously, that's the exact attitude that caused the dark ages.

and when somebody asks you, "oh, so you're an atheist then?"

you then say "Well, if that's what you want to label me, then sure, knock yourself out, if you feel a petty need to categorise me as an atheist..."

The first time somebody called me an atheist, I said, "atheist? What's that?"

So given the definition I gave above for atheism, do you not belittle yourself by saying that you are an atheist?

"Belittle myself?!?! what what what?!?! what *do* you mean??!?!?"

Well, all these religious types, who declare what their religion is, are actually saying "I'm such and such, and *everything* that goes along with that such and such, well, that's part of me too"

often the hidden undertone of what they are saying is, "I am better than you!" and worse is that they don't realise it, their arrogance is so entrenched that they see their religious intolerant ideals as "normal".

This is arrogance, do not fall into the arrogance pit as well dear Atheists, as that's the problem with religious people, they assume their truth is *the* truth, by saying you are an "atheist" you are making some sort of declaration to them that you are smarter than they are, which you probably are according to statistics, but there is no need to brag about it as that creates divisions in society as well, with the "atheist elite", which is exactly what *religion* has already done, with their "religious elitist" (lack of) thinking.

From another point of view, by answering "atheism" to the "what is your religious affiliation" question, you *are* asserting that you believe in nothing, which dumb fuck religious artards then take LITERALLY... and what do they come up with since you have said you have no beliefs? those fuck heads claim that you have no morals whatsoever, that you have no soul, that you are a brutal animal driven by instincts only, that you are Hitler's love child, or indeed, that you are Satan herself.

If atheism had an atomic number, it's number would be ZERO, *not* 666

And the fact is, they are *right* - you've played into their little game by putting "atheism" up on the same pedestal as a religion and *anything* can beat atheism in a battle of morals, because atheism *has* no morals, it teaches no such thing, there are no holy books, no dogma, no bishops, no priests fucking little boys and girls in the mouth and arse, there are no doctrines, it has nothing....

atheism has NO identifiable parts.

Frankly I'm tempted to call myself an atheist for the EXPLICIT purpose of pissing religious people off, seeing how I *know* that doing NOTHING AT ALL causes some of the religious much grief, seeing how if i was purely an atheist, I would have no emotions, no morals, I would be a robot.. in fact.. I would probably have to be god to truly be an atheist... and we all know god is an atheist, I mean there was no religion a million years ago and god is supposedly eternal, right?

If atheism was a temperature, it would be absolute zero..

So when smart arse christians speculate that I have no morals whatsoever, they should be thankful that they are LYING and that I do actually have some morals, because if I didn't, I wouldn't think twice about dropping a nuke on the spot they are standing on, because what "true" atheist would hesitate to eliminate people who are a pain in the arse? there would be nothing they had learnt to hold them back, seeing how they were *never* taught any better!

Atheists have morals, atheism does NOT

So, you should probably stop calling atheism a religion, because some religious freaks are just too fucking dumb to get that atheists get their moral guidance from other things.

Atheism is *supposed* to be about individuality, you can't be an individual if you write a label on yourself, especially a label that doesn't ACTUALLY MEAN ANYTHING.

atheism is ONLY non-belief in god and religion ... THAT'S ALL IT IS (religiorant)

atheism + atheism == atheism

atheism + communism == communism

atheism + butterfly == butterfly

atheism + christianity == christianity

atheism + socialism == socialism

atheism + a good person == a good person

atheism + a fucktard == a fucktard

atheism + brutal dictatorship == brutal dictatorship

atheism + science == science

atheism + a single water molecule == a single water molecule

do we see a trend?

0 + 0 == 0

0 + 1 == 1

0 + 2 == 2

0 + n = n

do we see a trend?

atheism is the number "zero", it is the non-belief in something supernatural being responsible for this plain of existence, anything beyond atheism, even one little concept, shifts the view of the atheism, to something else beyond being "just" an atheist ...

non-belief expends *no* energy - it requires no participation at all, unless of course, the atheist is outspoken enough to attempt to counter the overpowering droning noise of people claiming to believe in god

technically speaking, there are no real atheists because no atheist can possibly get any concept of life from atheism ... apart from the statement that atheists don't believe in god, there is nothing else to atheism, because atheism is an empty shell.

how many times does this need to be said?

ps. and therefore, atheists get their morals from the environment they grow up in, you know, like everybody else does, christians and muslims included...

non-believers have superior morals... (religiorant)

that's right,

non-believers have superior morals

so in spite of certain arse hole christians who go around insisting and insinuating that non-believers have no morals at all, the reality is just the opposite.

non-believers are NOT limited to sourcing their morals from ONE source like christians do.

For instance, a christian who claims to have superior morals, can't possibly have superior morals, as they only have ONE source for their moral guidance.

And besides, any christian saying that they have superior morals, instantly nullifies that statement, seeing how they have just committed the sin of PRIDE by BRAGGING that they are better than everyone else. What happened to the meek shall inherit the earth? Bragging is polar opposite of being meek, is it not?

So here's me, on the other hand as a non-believer, I am free to pick and choose from a very wide set of belief systems for my moral guidance, instead of picking and choosing from the one set of morals like the christian does... Furthermore, I get to *REJECT* all the NEGATIVE bullshit that these "moral" sources seem to often advocate. That is to say that if I don't like something about one of my moral sources, I don't have to tip toe around the issue to try and make it fit into my doctrine, instead I expand upon my doctrine, and find a morally acceptable position by expanding my morals.

eg. How can christians hate gays when Jesus taught to love everyone? If that's what chrsitianity is, then you can keep your belligerence and hateful bits of your religion to yourself.

As a personal example of a non-believers' source for morals, my moral influences include:

Jesus
Yoda
Gandhi
George Carlin
Carl Sagan
Nietzsche
Robin Williams
Buddha
The Dalai Lama
Shakespeare
Bilbo Baggins
Gandalf
my family
etc etc etc

And many others, in fact, I would go so far as to say, that everything and every experience in my entire life has gone towards the fabric of my morals, unlike christians who limit their moral guidance to one book from before the Dark Ages...

So excuse me, Mr and Mrs and Ms Smart-Arse christian, how can my morals be less than yours, let alone be non-existent, when my moral guidance *includes* the teachings of your messiah, as well as many other sources?

christians *limit* their morals to the teachings of christianity, I do not....

well, actually, that's bullshit, because I am yet to know of any christian that is actually following the teachings of Jesus as taught in the bible.

furthermore, of the things that i choose to use as a source of my morals, i am free to ignore the bullshit that goes along with it, just like christians completely ignore the two commandments Jesus gave and focus on the eye for an eye bullshit of the old testament... are you christian, or are you jewish?

for example, there is a handful of good things in christianity, from Jesus, I learnt... "do unto others as you would have them do unto you", "judge not lest thee be judged your self", "let he who is without sin, cast the first stone"... and anything else from christianity that doesn't fit those few things, I ignore.

My morals are not weighed down by religious bullshit, they are not weighed down trying to find answers, if I don't have a simple answer in my philosophy to some moral question, I don't go and try and find that answer in what I already know, I don't try to solve this moral dilemma with what I already know, I grow, I expand my horizon and look for the answer beyond what I currently know.

non-believers give god the most respect... (religiorant)

before I start, I am not saying that you should not believe in god, what I am saying is quite the opposite, so believe in god if you want, but that belief is personal, ie. you should keep your god to yourself, and you should not give this god random qualities... mostly written 2nd April, 2010, mostly ....

so... to start.... I've been thinking about this topic on and off for a couple of years, and the concept that it was based on was this:

"mere belief in god, is *blasphemy* to god"

that's right ... so even if there is a god, your belief in it, is blasphemy, or rather, that public act of declaring your belief is blasphemy.

don't understand?

by saying you have this god, and that this god has such and such a thing attached to it, like say, a religion, then do you not insult that god with the petty attributes you have given to it?

it's GOD, for god's sake, think bigger!

SHORT BLOG

let me demonstrate what i mean.

Often I've heard god has done some fantastic thing, like making the universe and everything in it.... and this god is infinitely powerful, infinitely knowledgeable, infinitely everywhere at once, infinitely perfect... blah blah blah ..

so *you* are *aware* that this god of yours is all powerful, so why do you not honour this god with the things of infinite grandeur you say about it and leave it at that??

god made everything? do you not insult your god?

"everything" is a term we mortal humans use to describe everything of which we are aware, anything and everything you can associate with a god is petty and irrelevant as anything you can think up about god, is FINITE ...

god made the universe? what?!?!? just *one* universe? that's it?

your god made a universe a dozens of billion light years across? I ask you, what else has your infinite deity done?

can't you think bigger than *ONE* *TINY* universe?

if your god made a trillion to the power of a trillion universes, I would still say to you, WHAT?!?! that's *IT*?!?!?

what did Shakespeare say??

There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy.
--"Hamlet" by Shakespeare

No matter what you can think up, I am at least 90% sure I can think up something bigger, better and brighter than your god can do, so it's still an insult to god, but at least my insult would be less of an insult than what you came up with.

god is an unknown, nobody knows what god is nor do they know what god wants.. so "i don't know what god is" is the most logical and respectful thing to say about god, is it not?

by saying that you don't know what god is, you are giving it the *ultimate* respect, by not giving god petty attributes, you are indeed a more honourable and profound and respectful (non) believer than anyone who gives god finite qualities.

so a non-believer is a win, because they don't give god trivial qualities, thereby they do NOT insult an infinite being with finite parameters, and a non-believer also has a second win, in that they have not wasted their time should god not exist in the first place.

WIN WIN

LONG BLOG

by not taking the word of what somebody else thinks their god is about (eg religion), you refrain from insulting such a creature with guesses that belittle your god...

god hates FAGS!

If you think you know what god wants you to do, or indeed, if you believe what your religion says about your god, then were these things that your religion told you, or were they things that you came around to because of your religion, or is it just that these views just happened to be your views anyway?

GOD HATES BROCCOLI AND SPINACH!!

by aligning god with what *you* want from god, you are bringing god down to your level.. you dishonour your god by bringing it down to earth... by giving god things that you like, you are trying to make god into a tangible thing....

oh god likes picnics ...

oh and god likes blue skies and sunsets...

you insult your god by thinking that *you* know what god wants, do you not see?

god likes spaghetti!

And it does not matter if it is a good thing that you wish for god to have either, god likes "christmas" - bullshit .. if god liked christmas, god would have made it up itself zillions of years ago.

god likes SATAN and god hates SANTA ... oh wait? did I get those the right way around?

frankly, any one spouting off their mouths about what god wants or likes, GOD LIKES MUSIC, makes me take a few steps back from them, GOD HATES SOLAR FLARES! just in case there is a bolt of lightning that strikes them down and fries their internal organs that might just jump across at me in some sort of collateral damage, because I was standing too close to your blasphemous arse.

GOD HATES MULLETS!

....

I can't speak for other non-believers, but when somebody pushes the point to what I would say if there was a god of some sort or not, I would say, "yes, there could be a god", I won't deny it, but then I would say that nobody knows what god actually is, *therefore*, god is irrelevant in this plain of existence and any attempt to qualify god, is a man made qualification.

there are thousands of religions - the "biggest" doesn't mean that's the right one - otherwise Catholicism is "the" religion, or Sunni Islame, take your choice as they are neck and neck at the moment, but religions are still petty attributes given to god, regardless of the size of that religion.

the "oldest" doesn't make it the right religion either, if that were so, the Aussie Aboriginals story of The Dreamtime, should be "the" creation story ... seeing how the Aboriginals have had the longest continuous civilisation of modern man dating from 40,000+ years ago, thus making the christian creation story, and every other creation story, a lie, because these petty attributes given to god, are what *you* want your god to have, you've ignored the oldest known creation story as being incorrect. But more likely you've never heard of the Dreamtime, as you just assumed that your "truth", was the only "truth" to be found.

....

By saying that "I don't know what god is", do I not admit the sheer enormous gravity of what god is?

do I not honour the vastness of god by not even trying to bring this god into my realm by even acknowledging it at all?

do I not assign god to the realms of the unknown and beyond anything my puny brain can even dream up, by saying "I don't know"??

in other words, by admitting that you do not know what god is, you are saying that god is so great, and so baffling a concept, and so super extraordinary, that our feeble minds can not possibly comprehend it, that it's a complete and utter waste of time to speculate on the parameters of such a creature.. let alone attempt to guess what it wants..

so regardless of actually believing in god or not, if you do not give god petty attributes in the first place, you give it more respect than someone who thinks that god likes music or hates gays or whatever you can think up, because these things you give to your god, are things that *you* have thought up.

If you associate things with your god that you like or hate, then that is *proof* that your god does not exist, because these things you give to it, are things that you want attached to the god that is under your control. eg. the god you created in your brain.

How do you know god hates fags? loves christmas, easter bunnies, santa blah blah blah ...

You *know* what your god wants, because that god is you, that is how you give it qualities and how you can be perfectly fine with those qualities.

Is there anything you don't like about your god, or are all the things that you don't like about god, given to Satan?!?!

Is that what your ego tells you to do?

Newsflash, this god *is* just your ego, if your god hates fags, that is because *your* ego hates fags, ie. YOU hate fags. Worse still, is that you can not even take responsibility for your own prejudices. Worse still again, you don't give yourself credit when you should, you just pretend that is something else, some external part of your universe.

But it's not, it's *all* you. god satan heaven hell ... all in your brain .. because even if they did exist, you would not know anything about it.

Giving god attributes you want, is blasphemy to the *real* god, should it actually exist.

*YOU* are giving attributes to the god creature that is in your brain, the instant you give some finite quality to god, you bring god plummeting down from the realms of the unknown, you bring god up from the depths of the infinite, *you* make god into a finite entity by giving it qualities that you want.

god loves and/or hates such and such? you belittle god with your assumptions.

by admitting that "yes there could be a god", you are open to the possibility of god existing, but then by saying that "you don't know what god is", you are giving it the greatest of all respect.

Non-belief is not blasphemy, BELIEF is blasphemy.

And even if non-belief *is* blasphemy to the "real" god, giving god the *wrong* attributes, via your assumptions, is that not worse?

Let me bring this concept down to a mortal level.

Imagine there are two persons, who haven't met you, but are somehow aware of your existence. Maybe they read your profile on myspaz?

the first person, makes an erroneous assumption about you, and speaks on your behalf.

the second person, refrains from making any assumptions about you, until they know you better, so therefore, they won't speak on your behalf, because they don't know what you would actually say.

of these two people, who do you think you will get along with better?

WHO would you at least respect more?

now apply this concept to god....

the first person is a religious person, who makes assumptions about god, and says things that they "know" about god, thus erroneously speaking on its behalf...

the second is a non-believer, leaving things as an unknown until facts are made available, and since there are no facts about god, does not attempt to make up shit about god, or rather, doesn't make up shit about god and *expect* other people to believe the same thing.

of these two people, who do you think god will let into heaven?

WHO would be more likely to NOT be fatally struck down?

exactly who is going to piss god off the most?

the first person making incorrect assumptions about god and/or speaking on god's behalf; or

the second person, who politely refrains from making any assumptions at all?

WHO shows more respect to god?

god is a personal thing, attaching your petty man made attributes to it, e.g. religion, is an insult to god. #atheism #christian

global warming is happening - GET OVER IT (science V artards)

still i am seeing people who are denying that global warming is happening - there are even politicians in the USA that are trying to legislate that it's a bunch of bullshit! WTF?!?! Even Australian politicians have been this retarded as well.

global warming is happening - GET OVER IT - the last decade has been the hottest... the decade before that was the hottest at the time, and the decade before that was the hottest at the time too...

it's happening - anyone denying it now is a victim of misleading propaganda or has their head shoved so far up their arse that they can't see reality.

here is the most complete set of data from my local area that i could find from our weather bureau, the Cape Moreton Lighthouse...

as you can see, this particular weather station is out on near the Pacific Ocean so the temperatures will be less variable than an inland weather station. This is because the ocean retains heat better than dry land, meaning temperatures from this station will be influenced by the ocean temperature to a greater extent. ie. places on the coast have cooler summers and milder winters, especially on eastern coastlines.

Inland cities like Canberra are mostly really cold in winter and mostly hot in summer and Brisbane on the coast gets barely a week of cold days in a row, and pretty much every second hot summer day ends in a storm. (well, there has not been a lot of storm activity as of 2014)

This means that the variations in the average maximum temperature for each month, and from season to season will be less noticeable because the ocean is nearby. The ocean also mitigates the effects of random years being hotter or colder, like if one year is hotter than normal, and if the temp goes back to normal the next year, the ocean won't have had a chance to have been heated by the atmosphere.

In order for the ocean temp to be heated up by the sun and the atmosphere, it has to be consistently hotter for more than a year or two. This is also why the seasons are slightly delayed in their arrivals, eg. summer starts in December down under, but the sun is highest in the sky (thus more heat reaches the Earth's surface, as there is less atmosphere to travel through) during November December and January, and yet the temp keeps going up until at least February is over.. The delay in heating (or cooling in winter) is caused by the oceans, in that it takes a while to get them heated, and once they are heated, they tend to stay that way, until at least about March, then it starts to get colder when the sun is no longer directly overhead, so there is less radiation reaching the surface to be heating the oceans as effectively.

Water retaining heat is also why you can get burnt with steam, water vapour retains heat and energy, so it dissipates relatively slowly in the air as it only has the thin air to "bleed off" the heat to, but on the other hand, as soon as steam touches your skin, it suddenly has something more solid than the air to absorb the heat in the steam, that rapid transfer of heat into your skin is what causes "steam burns"..

but anyway, back to the weather data, i've selected the "median or less" to be highlighted in the images below as the median favours "normal" temps and tends to exclude temps that might skew the average (aka, the mean)... but it doesn't really matter, all the data tends to show what I'm saying, have a look at the other settings - the 95 percentile or more shows the hottest five percent of months - mostly grouped into the last decade... same thing for the average as well

http://www.bom.gov.au/jsp/ncc/cdio/weatherData/av?p_nccObsCode=36&p_display_type=dataFile&p_startYear=&p_stn_num=040043

from 1913-1990 you can clearly see that most of the months that had temps below the median were loosely clumped together during those years...

but what do we see during the last twenty years?

we see an obvious cluster of hotter months, above the median temperature.

the temperature is going up people, this is a fact ...

find any continuous set of weather data for nearly a hundred years and I'm thinking you'll find similar trends.

Have a look at Sydney, the exact same trend is there too...

so two out of the two sets of data for coastal cities I picked, indicate that the temp is going up, feel free to look up more data.... ask if you don't understand what it all means.

IT'S HAPPENING AND IT WON'T GO AWAY

the temperature is going up ... this is happening right now, the trend isn't towards a status quo, things aren't going to remain the same as they are now and it's not going to go away.

If it's our fault, then it's unlikely we can change our ways significantly for at least a few decades.

China have already announced they will look to cut their emissions by 2050 ... that's FORTY years from now ..

that's how dependant countries are on industries that create emissions, that's how dependant we are on things staying the way they are right now..

For example, if China suddenly stopped producing exports, the world would suddenly have to pay lots more, for a *lot* of stuff, and we would probably see a significant percentage of the world population fall below the poverty line because of it, yes, even more people will be in poverty. Which would mean our Western way of life would begin to resemble poorer countries with slums around major cities, for starters.

So regardless of global warming being somebody's fault, there is nothing we can do to stop it, or rather, there is nothing that we *could* do that would not result a drastic shift in how our world of convenience works...

we could stop all the industry, we could stop driving cars, smoking cigarettes, burning coal for electricity, we *can* stop doing all those things.

it's just that we won't, because our society depends on these things and/or too many of us like our creature comforts, and our vices, and our freedoms to escape away in our cars or jet about the planet, and many of us love our motors sports burning up fuel just for the fun of it.

we could stop cutting down trees and stop using quadruple ply lush scented toilet paper to wipe our bums.

we could do all of these things, but we won't.. and why is that?

because we like the good things in life, we deserve to have the good things, do we not?

That's how we were raised, we were raised to think that everyone single person on earth could potentially rule the world, and failing that, become a rock star, a test pilot, an astronaut, etc etc .. we all aspire to far greater heights than we are likely to ever achieve.

We've all been raised, on television to believe that one day we'd be millionaires and movie gods and rock stars. But we won't. We're slowly learning that fact. And we're very, very pissed off.
--[Tyler Durden]

and we deserve the good life, why not? hence, it's obvious why we won't do anything about global warming, we are *selfish*.

but it doesn't matter, a couple degrees increase might not seem like much, but it's a cascade effect.

Already we are seeing things that we never thought about before with the climate changing

Just recently, for example, in the Arctic ocean north of Siberia, the sea is warming up, and guess what? There just happens to be a whole swag of *methane* locked under that previously frozen bit of sea bed, which is now bubbling to the surface.

And if you are wondering, methane is like twenty times more effective as a green house gas than carbon dioxide is, and if all that methane gets released into the atmosphere... well then I hope you don't live too close to the ocean.

The Daily Galaxy - Billions of Tons of Methane Beneath Frozen Arctic Destablizing, Scientists Warn

so what do we do about global warming?

global warming isn't the problem, if global warming is happening, it doesn't matter if we are responsible, it's too late for assigning blame for that now anyway.

it's our attitude of passing the buck to the next guy that's the problem..... the biggest deal with global warming at the moment, is that too many people think it's a hoax. So it's summarily dismissed by the close-minded.. That's the easiest thing to do... that's what the intellectually challenged do all the time about heaps of shit.

Fox news didn't tell them what to think, or rather, they told them to think the wrong thing.

How can we do anything about it when everyone isn't on board with the facts? They dwell over the one report that comes out that had misleading information, and suddenly the whole thing is a hoax?

Come on people, use your head.

THE TEMPERATURE IS GOING UP - GET USED TO IT

the temp is going up - we can't stop it, even if we tried, we're just not smart enough to suddenly be able to provide clean power to all of our industries.

But what we can do, with our limited abilities, is stop the polluting of our planet, and if that just happens to fix global warming at the same time, then so be it

you can

* plant trees and other flora to eat all the carbon dioxide
* use public transport
* conserve electricity, if every person on earth with electricity had one less light operating ... well, i'm sure it would be a good start
* move to high ground
* stop watching commercial television, it shortens your attention span, and inspires you to buy crap you don't need.
* get your news from multiple sources, if you read some fantastic story, check out if some other source says the same
* speak up, get on twitter and retransmit stories you like
* stop misinformation being spread
* ask questions

governments can

* tax the hell out of "wasteful" or "flamboyant" or "excessive" life styles, car racing, gambling, fuel guzzlers, if people have money to waste, they can send it towards useful endeavours.

* encourage purchasing of efficient and practical modes of transport, none of these big engine cars, noisy chopper bikes, no more gold mags on cars and none of this silly spending on cars that have shock absorbers that can make the car bounce like it's on a trampoline

* encourage big business to donate to scientific endeavours, instead of buying off politicians with campaign donations so they'll support legislation in their favour, big business could be using the money to actually *do* something useful and impress society by giving back to all us little people who buy their shit

the point here is that, our selfish ways are going to have to stop, we *need* business and industry to keep going, so we, the regular people need to give up at least some of our creature comforts, because we don't *need* to watch cars go around a track, we don't need to turn on every light in the house, we don't need to buy that Ferrari, we don't need to spend tens of thousands of dollars on weddings, we don't need to buy 2000Watt speaker systems for our single bed-room hi-rise apartment, especially seeing that just having the volume at a minimum level means the whole building can hear it.

people often complain that the rich are getting richer as the poor are getting poorer, but that's the basic concept of *capitalism*, that is the basic model of our western society, and yet people get upset about socialist policies which are designed to remedy that chasm between rich and poor?

what's that about?

we are selfish, and the utterly stupid bit about it, is that most of us don't even reap the rewards of that selfishness, as it's the rich minority that benefit from our covetous society.

TEN commandments are redundant... (religiofact)

The TEN commandments of the OLD Testament are out of date, that is to say that

they are redundant, and they are no longer needed.

you got that?

TEN commandments == OLD School == Judaism

TWO commandments == New School == Christianity

the central message of christianity, is the TWO commandments that Jesus gave...

you got that??? TWO COMMANDMENTS - NOT TEN COMMANDMENTS OR FOUR OR FIVE OR SEVEN - BUT

TWO COMMANDMENTS

*everything* *christian* hangs upon these two commandments:

1. Love god before all other gods
2. Love thy neighbour as thyself

and that is it, that is all you need to actually know from the bible to be *christian*.

Jesus said it himself, these two things are to held above all others.

So if there is an apparent conflict with something else taught in the bible, then these two commandments are to take precedence in the christian faith.

NO EXCEPTIONS *EVER*

The only complication you could/should apply to these TWO commandments, is to take that second commandment, and make it into a generic one.

By doing that, you can make it replace the TEN commandments. This notion is, in fact, stated in the *bible*.

eg. Don't kill him if you don't want him to kill you. Don't steal from this dude if you don't want this dude to steal from you, don't tell lies if you don't want to be lied to, don't lust after my woman if you don't want me to lust after yours etc etc etc

If you don't hold these two commandments above all else - you are not christian, it's as simple as that, and you need to get off your high horse quick smart and pent and repent and rerepent and rererepent, *quick*smart*, because if there *is* a god, then *YOU* are the biggest sinners and blasphemers out of the lot of us as you've taken what little good there is in the bible, and you have ignored it completely and utterly.

but of course, if you know otherwise, feel free to bash my non-believer head in with the same bible I got this shit from, but it says quite clearly in two of the gospels, and it also says it, not so clearly, in the other two gospels, and it is even indicated as such by Paul and in several other places, that this is the way of things in christianity and that nothing else out ranks these things.

The long blog explains about how the christians have got their christianity wrong.... in Biblical detail

LONG BLOG

i'm not sure i've mentioned this yet but, or rather, i am not sure who i said this to, but recently i was told, after mentioning the TWO commandments of Jesus, that I was making shit up about Jesus.

now now - don't laugh at me and say "YOU DO THAT *ALLL* THE TIME!!!" .. this is true, but not this time

I was told that these two commandments I had "made up" were in fact, "Jedi tricks", which means that they were, in fact, NOT teachings of Jesus....

hmmmm. .. So Jesus' two commandments, are Jedi mind tricks? hmmm... you flatter the Jedi, Sir!

so after pointing out that the bible does indeed refer to these teachings as the "two commandments" (King James Version) - I was then told that I was the *only* person who had ever referred to them as such.

Admittedly, I didn't remember that these TWO commandments were called 'commandments' until about a month ago either... but then again, I did not care, as I stopped being a christian a very long time ago, if ever I was one that is, so my memory was flaky over that point, but someone calling themselves christian, should at least know that much.

I mean they are the two BIGGEST points of christianity, right?

Seems to me that the TEN commandments have been entrenched in the minds of too many people, and they've not got around to actually being taught about what Jesus actually said, it would seem to me, that people are just *saying* that they are christian and get *really* upset when some heathen scum like me, knows their story better than they do.

I for one always think of that big arse movie when I hear about the TEN commandments, with what's his face, National Rifle Association dude, what's his name.. that dude... Heston.. that's right.. Planet of the Apes... it's a mad house, I tells yah!

but why do i say such a thing? It would seem that the vast majority of people claiming to be christians have it *wrong*, that's why.

I hear christians saying the TEN commandments this ra ra ra ra the TEN commandments that ra ra ra ra ... I wonder if it's because TEN sounds more significant than TWO?

So, it's a fact, that there are some christians in this world who are sooo fucking dumb that they don't know the FIRST OR THE SECOND THING ABOUT CHRISTIANITY, LITERALLY....

So.... just how many Christians hold the ten commandments above the TWO?

There's one, so it's likely there will be more of them, probably thousands, possibly millions.

At this moment in history, I suspect that there could be as many as 30 million versions of christianity.

I believe a very lengthy survey of christians would be required to detect how extensive the damage is... but....

It's quite joyous.

Glorious even!

is it not?

Matthew 22:36-40 (36) Master, which [is] the great commandment in the law? (37) Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. (38) This is the first and great commandment. (39) And the second [is] like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. (40) On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

So here we have it, Matthew and Mark say it outright in the King James Version, that these are commandments, and that they outrank, supersede, replace, supplant, exceed and make redundant the TEN commandments.

Take special note of the closing phrases - there is no other commandment greater than these - so when Jesus said he came to fulfil the law, he says that on these two commandments, hang *all* the law.

To me this says that the TEN commandments, while still valid, are outranked or outdated by the TWO because the TEN commandments are all applicable to either one of the TWO commandments Jesus gave anyway, especially when you view the second commandment in a generic light. eg.

Old: you should not kill.
New: You should not kill if you do not want to be killed.

Mark 12:29-31 (29) And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments [is], Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord: (30) And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this [is] the first commandment. (31) And the second [is] like, [namely] this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.

So clearly, in Matthew and in Mark, TWO of the FOUR gospels, it says that the TWO commandments are above and beyond the instructions that the TEN commandments gave.

And the second of the TWO commandments can be applied generically, so therefore can apply to many situations, so it seems pretty clear that the TEN commandments are redundant, as the TWO can address situations that the TEN do not..

One could say that the TEN commandments have FULFILLED their purpose, as the generic nature of the second commandment applies to lots of things,

"don't insult me if you don't want me to insult you"
"mind your own business about my sexual orientation, and I'll mind my business about your sexual orientation"

of course... the whole thing is categorically a fail... as clearly, people don't "get" it .. and these people are probably in the minority, but they are so arrogant, that more than likely they are the ones shouting the loudest that they are "faithful" to the christian, ahem, cause? This is called an affirmation, say it enough, and it must lay down neural path ways or something like that so that way of thinking becomes natural. Like if you walk over the same bit of grass often enough, you end up making a path, and to deviate from that path is quite difficult because it's easier to stick to the path....

It's amazing, i am stunned, i am flabbergasted.... people just don't get the whole "do unto others, as you would prefer they do unto you" .. How can that be?

I am mortified and ecstatic at the same time, actually. mortified that these people exist, but ecstatic because this is exactly what I want to see. That being that people are so blinded by their faith that they literally don't know the first thing about it ...

what non-believer would not enjoy that?

and if TWO gospels aren't enough to convince the dumbarse christian out there that they have their religion utterly wrong, here's some more supporting "evidence" from the bible....

Luke 10:27 And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.

The Gospel of Luke said something similar to the "do unto others" thing.

and here from the Gospel of John ...

John 13:34 A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.

John 15:12 This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.

so whatever you're fave Gospel was ... viola!! they all said the same thing.

and James taught....

James 2:8 If ye fulfil the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well:

even St Paul wrote something similar .... he even explains that the TWO commandants out rank the TEN by rattling off a few of the TEN, and then taking it one step further by saying, "if there be any other commandment", you can apply the "love thy neighbour" thing to it ..

Romans 13:9 For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if [there be] any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

Did you read that? Both Jesus and Paul said this - no christian or born again paulian has any excuse for not following this ... and if that isn't good enough, here's Saint I-made-my-self-an-apostle Paul again, rather succinctly this time.

Galatians 5:14 For all the law is fulfilled in one word, [even] in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

and just how many books did this John dude get to do anyway?

1 John 2:7-11 (7) Brethren, I write no new commandment unto you, but an old commandment which ye had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word which ye have heard from the beginning. (8) Again, a new commandment I write unto you, which thing is true in him and in you: because the darkness is past, and the true light now shineth. (9) He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness even until now. (10) He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him. (11) But he that hateth his brother is in darkness, and walketh in darkness, and knoweth not whither he goeth, because that darkness hath blinded his eyes.

1 John 3:23-24 (23) And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment. (24) And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.

1 John 4:20-21 (20) If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen? (21) And this commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God love his brother also.

2 John 1:5-6 (5) And now I beseech thee, lady, not as though I wrote a new commandment unto thee, but that which we had from the beginning, that we love one another. (6) And this is love, that we walk after his commandments. This is the commandment, That, as ye have heard from the beginning, ye should walk in it.

Revelations 22:14 Blessed [are] they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.

So all in all ... they are COMMANDMENTS .. and please go check other versions of this godly word of yours, as I have done

of the SIXTEEN DIFFERENT bibles I bothered to check, nine use the word commandment, the tenth used "command" but still in the same context as to mean "commandment", and one of them had a lot of the words replaced with the appropriate Hebrew words, and five others were in other languages completely so i had no idea what they said and meant.

but what does this also mean? It seems very clear to me, that the following statement should be exactly what every christians should get out of christianity::

Jesus said that "love god before all others" and "love thy neighbour as thyself" and *replace* the TEN commandments and any *other* directive / commandment / suggestion / implication / order / recommendation / whatever with that notion of loving your neighbour ...

if *any* thing in the bible comes into conflict with "love thy god before all others" and "love thy neighbour as you love thyself" - if *anything* comes into conflict with these TWO COMMANDMENTS, then the TWO COMMANDMENTS take *precedence*, they out rank every thing else, they make everything else superfluous..

So if you read the bible and somehow you get hatred or prejudice against certain types of people out of it, then shut the fuck up about it because you didn't read your bible properly even half as well as you have claimed...

"Love thy neighbour, as thyself"

if you can't do that, then stop pretending to us with your christscam, as we're onto you, look for us, we'll be there... we could be standing beside you right now, quietly laughing to ourselves at how STUPID you are.

have a look at how FANTASTIC god is! (religiomath)

the earth does not spin around its own axis,

it does not orbit around the sun..

the earth doesn't wobble on its axis every 27 thousand years or whatever the Mayans reckon - what do they know?!? They're dead!

the earth, is in fact fixed to the spot, not moving at all, so therefore the universe spins around us and the earth is held in place by its magnetic field, because if it didn't the earth would fall into the deeeeep chasm of space, and possibly land in some big vat of liquid nitrogen, or hydrogen or some some super conducting fluid thing

have a look outside, watch the sun and moon move in the sky, there's your proof, the earth doesn't move - every thing *else* moves!

and what's more believable?

the earth spins on its axis and orbits the sun, the so called "Heliocentric" model that "scientists" claim to be the truth, or)

the plain simple truth that the universe spins around the earth?

i think it's obvious, don't you?

let's do some math and have a look at how FANTASTIC god is shall we??

if we take the nearest galaxy similar to our own, the Andromeda galaxy at 2.5million light years away, it would have to go on a journey each day around the earth of about....

let's see 2*PI*2.5million is roughly 16million light years every day. (did u know you can put "2*PI*2.5million" into google and it frikking works it out for you!)

Let's see a single light year is 9,460,730,472,580km,

now times that by 16million and you get about 151,371,687,561,280,000,000km travelled in 24 hours...

so divide by 24hrs and that's 6,307,153,648,386,666,666km/hr, ( 666 *snickers* )

divide that again by 3600 seconds in the hour and u get about 1,751,987,124,551,851km/sec

now light travels at a measly 300,000km/sec so the Andromeda galaxy travels at about 5,839,957,081 (five thousand million or 5 billion for the USA-ites) times the speed of light to make its journey around planet earth!!

god is SOOOOOO awesome!! god can do *anything*!! (someone want to check my math? )

I mean some ppl have the audacity to think that god isn't doing anything now that he's made the universe and that he has been slacking off ever since, what a bunch of crap!

he's out there spinning the frikking universe around planet earth at speeds that could only be achieved by god!

which is why I don't believe in god or pray to it or even spell god with a capital "G" - because *I* don't want to be responsible for distracting god with some petty request, the universe could go flying off on a tangent having slipped out of god's grip and then astronomers would have nothing to do once the light show of billions of galaxies screaming by was over... maybe we'd go flying through other universes...

"oh look Helen.. was that a universe that just flew by outside the window?"

not to mention some galaxy might crash into us - the universe might be mostly empty, but there's an awful lot of it, something is very likely to hit us...

/sarcasm-off

fucking dumbarse stupid fucking creationists ..

the ant farm... the story of Dogurt and Livedon

Dogurt and Livedon were friends, they liked to play together and they played and played and played....

Dogurt had plenty of toys, but he was rather flippant with them, and he got bored very easily.

At one stage Dogurt had an ant farm, and he and Livedon would play making up stories about the ants as they made their way around the tiny little enclosure ...

but again Dogurt got bored, and he found the ant farm scene wasn't so 'hip' any more, but rather than toss them aside like he did with other toys and let them go wild so there'd be ants every where, he gave them to Liv.

Livvy didn't keep the ants all locked up, she let them go in her back yard. Where they *did* run wild, and she would make up her own stories about all the ants roaming around in her backyard as they built themselves an Ant Empire.

After a couple of years, as time went by, the ants had flourished making an ant hill and all those ant type things, they were in Heavant.

But then old Dogurt, Doggy to Liv, found out why that old friend of his, Livedon, was not spending as much time with him any more, it was because she was spending all her time with the ants that he gave her and was having fun making up stories and such like they used to do together.

so Doggy, in an outburst of rage, decided to get back at Livvy for not giving him attention, and in a temper tantrum, kicked down the ant hill, killed all the ants, saying that they were his to do with as he pleased anyway as *he* gave those ants to Livedon, and seeing that she had no ants to make up stories about any more, he thought that she would have to spend time with him again now..

but Livedon, didn't like Dogurt as much any more, especially seeing how he killed all the ants he had given to Livvy as a gift, they spoke every now and then, but it was a case of simply being polite in passing for the sake of not causing a fuss.

But back at the ant hill, it turns out they weren't all dead after all, and after a few more years of being tended to by Livvy, they were able to rebuild into a bigger and better Antopia.... Livvy was happy to see that some had survived, and vowed to protect them with more vigilance and with a harsher defence next time around...

but then, of course, Doggy found out again, and Dogurt tried to knock down the ant hill again, but this time, as promised, Livedon rose up and kicked Dogurt's arse ... so much so ... that Dogurt, sent somebody else to represent him from that point onwards... this new guy was Dogurt's son, and he was called Susej, and he seemed to be an OK sort of guy....

Why the Peaceful Majority is Irrelevant by Paul E. Marek

great article as to why the religious majority are irrelevant to the whole argument that it's only the extremist minority that are making their religion into a problem for everyone, and no i'm not going to be posting other people's opinions, this just happens to be what I have said previously, about a five hundred blogs ago.. oh and thanks to bob for posting this in the comments of his blogs ...

"Why the Peaceful Majority is Irrelevant" by Paul E. Marek

http://cjunk.blogspot.com/2006/02/why-peaceful-majority-is-irrelevant.html

I used to know a man whose family were German aristocracy prior to World War Two. They owned a number of large industries and estates. I asked him how many German people were true Nazis, and the answer he gave has stuck with me and guided my attitude toward fanaticism ever since.

“Very few people were true Nazis” he said, “but, many enjoyed the return of German pride, and many more were too busy to care. I was one of those who just thought the Nazis were a bunch of fools. So, the majority just sat back and let it all happen. Then, before we knew it, they owned us, and we had lost control, and the end of the world had come. My family lost everything. I ended up in a concentration camp and the Allies destroyed my factories.”

We are told again and again by “experts” and “talking heads” that Islam is the religion of peace, and that the vast majority of Muslims just want to live in peace. Although this unquantified assertion may be true, it is entirely irrelevant. It is meaningless fluff, meant to make us feel better, and meant to somehow diminish the specter of fanatics rampaging across the globe in the name of Islam. The fact is, that the fanatics rule Islam at this moment in history. It is the fanatics who march. It is the fanatics who wage any one of 50 shooting wars world wide. It is the fanatics who systematically slaughter Christian or tribal groups throughout Africa and are gradually taking over the entire continent in an Islamic wave. It is the fanatics who bomb, behead, murder, or honor kill. It is the fanatics who take over mosque after mosque. It is the fanatics who zealously spread the stoning and hanging of rape victims and homosexuals. The hard quantifiable fact is, that the “peaceful majority” is the “silent majority” and it is cowed and extraneous.

Communist Russia was comprised of Russians who just wanted to live in peace, yet the Russian Communists were responsible for the murder of about 20 million people. The peaceful majority were irrelevant. China’s huge population was peaceful as well, but Chinese Communists managed to kill a staggering 70 million people. The Average Japanese individual prior to World War 2 was not a war mongering sadist. Yet, Japan murdered and slaughtered its way across South East Asia in an orgy of Killing that included the systematic killing of 12 million Chinese civilians; most killed by sword, shovel, and bayonet. And, who can forget Rwanda, which collapsed into butchery. Could it not be said that the majority of Rwandans were “peace loving”.

History lessons are often incredibly simple and blunt, yet for all our powers of reason we often miss the most basic and uncomplicated of points. Peace-loving Muslims have been made irrelevant by the fanatics. Peace-loving Muslims have been made irrelevant by their silence. Peace-loving Muslims will become our enemy if they don’t speak up, because like my friend from Germany, they will awake one day and find that the fanatics own them, and the end of their world will have begun. Peace-loving Germans, Japanese, Chinese, Russians, Rwandans, Bosnians, Afghans, Iraqis, Palestinians, Somalis, Nigerians, Algerians, and many others, have died because the peaceful majority did not speak up until it was too late. As for us who watch it all unfold, we must pay attention to the only group that counts; the fanatics who threaten our way of life.

we gave god purpose... (religiorant)

god is all knowing... supposedly.... so god had the knowledge to do the creation thing at any time whatsoever, but this god sat around just shy of forever doing nothing, for trillions of years (and the rest) - god must have been pretty bored before it made the universe, ya think?

the religious also have often told me that,

"god gives us purpose"

I say bullshit to that because it is the other way around: *we* gave god purpose

supposedly god made the universe for us, *just* for us, supposedly.

Now if that is true, what did god do before we were around?

Creating the universe gave god something to do. *We* gave *god* purpose ..

we are its bacteria forming in a Petri dish, a rather large Petri dish at that...

the religious should not read these blogs, they *will* be offended

these are my rantings about religion - i speak fluent sarcasm - know this when you are reading and it will save you some heartache.
