god v infinity .... (religiorant)

do people believe in god because they can't conceptualise infinity?

is it possible that the tiny human mind is unable to fathom the concept of the infinite emptiness of space, that it is unable to grasp how there can be a "something" that didn't stop - ever - so they just put that concept into the bucket that is labelled "god looks after this stuff"?

but is it not arrogant to assume something is done by god? god supposedly did everything, right? so why does the believer ever need to identify individual components of all of the things that god did?

because what happens when something you throw something into the "infinite" bucket of things that god looks after? Sometimes those things have to get pulled out and put into pesky things that mankind has figured out

ie. those things are no longer the domain of god ... and if anything can be taken away from your god, then your god wasn't god, was it?

you set a boundary on your god by identifying the things it has supposedly done and then you had to move that boundary?

why?

because your god is your ego and egos can grow and shrink, so when you learned some new bit of information that your god was the supposedly the source of but wasn't, so you had to deflate your ego a little bit so it would fit back inside where-ever it is you keep it.

if you believe in god - fine - good on you - believe away - but if you constrain your god with any specific tasks, even something as grandiose as creating the universe, you are putting a limit on your god, you are using god as a thing - as an icon that represents "knowledge" - *your* knowledge, so when you don't know something, you stick god in there as the answer and many believers arrogantly believe themselves to be of superior intellect, whether they actually are or not, simply because they have god on their side.

This is kind of like saying you know what is at the end of the rainbow when you don't, but you know that god knows, and therefore you do too, which inflates your ego with this non-knowledge that only "god" knows....

the word faith has been overused ... (mincing words)

the word "faith" has been overused, it pretty much means nothing to be a person of "faith" these days

"oh what's that? you're a person of 'faith'? well whooop dee frigging doo dah mate, you want fries with that? a Mickey Mouse badge, perhaps?"

if a non-believer does have any "faith", then it is faith in common sense and reason, therefore, those that do not exhibit common sense and reason, commit blasphemy against the "faith" of the non-believer... well, why not... quid pro quo, Clarice

and the word miracle - has been obliterated - a plane crashes - 200 people die, but a dog survives, and that's a miracle - no, you stupid fuck tards - a miracle would have been 200 people surviving as well as the dog surviving!

so believe in miracles as much as you want, because the word "miracle" is worn out any way...

it's a miracle gravity made something form out of nothing,
it's a miracle the big bang happened,
it's a miracle evolution happened,
it's a miracle we came down from the trees,
it's a miracle we can dream up such elaborate fairy tales like "god"

so believe in god, the word is worn out any way, make up your own god... Pez dispensor ... electricity ... ice cream ... these things have more credibility than the "being" people think of as "god", these things are "realer" than your belief in whatever it is you think you believe in... hell, Luke Skywalker is "realer" than god will ever be

just saying you believe in god means nothing ..... (religiorant)

when somebody says "I believe in god", it means nothing. It might mean something if you knew that person, so you might have an idea of what they mean when they say "god", like if someone in your family said, "I believe in god", you might know what they mean by that because you know them to be a good person by their actions..

but on the other hand, saying you believe in god, especially to a non-believer, could very well mean a lot of *unintended* things to many different people..

so while it might mean something "good" to the believer, this belief in god they are talking about, can be vastly different to what other people have as an idea for "believing in god".

this is the very basis of why you should keep your religion/god to yourself, because by just saying that you believe, you aren't showing us what you've learned from your religion, you are just saying something that you think will somehow affirm that "you are" what this belief of yours says "you are"... eg. saying that you christian, is supposedly an admission that you follow the teachings of Jesus, and the implication there, is that you are a good person.

but how does a stranger actually know what this belief of yours means? just saying that you are a good person means nothing, so if you don't show by example what your religion means, just saying you believe, means nothing.

This is the very reason why people scoff at claims of "peaceful" religions, because history has shown that religion has been anything but peaceful.

If it's a religion of peace, then the violent actions of religious extremists speak much louder than the silence of the "peaceful" majority, who do nothing about their extremists, except to say that they aren't true believers, of course.

BENEFIT OF THE DOUBT

If, for example, someone were to confess that they believe in Jesus, they would probably be given the benefit of the doubt and people would think that that was a good thing, because regardless if he was real or not, Jesus had some good stuff to teach. But by confessing a belief Jesus, the believer is asking us to judge their actions with *Jesus* as a frame of reference.

But, *Very* few believers are up to the task of being compared to Jesus.

so believe in Jesus if you want, but if you want to brag that you believe in JC, then you're going to be judged in relation to the things he taught, so unless you really do believe in Jesus and his teachings and know them and follow them, it's probably best to keep your belief to yourself, because people will just see you as being full of shit if you confess a belief in Christ, but then you turn out to be a hypocrite.

so just saying you believe without backing up your words with actions to match what is meant by those words, well, it makes you akin to a parrot, you are just repeating phrases that make you feel more loved.

and yes you *really* may feel uplifted by believing in something, but even if you do feel something good by believing, you are still going to be seen as repeating mere phrases by just saying that you believe.

BELIEF IS IRRELEVANT ANYWAY

but beliefs are irrelevant anyway, because if a non-believer and a believer actually talked to each other, they would find that they share many of the same values in life *anyway*, it's just that there are these idolatrous believers who insist on bringing their beliefs into it, when their beliefs don't really mean anything to the other person...

and guess what ... that's idolatry, it doesn't *matter* what you say, it's what you do.

the non-believer might also consider whether people saying that they believe in god, are merely not just saying that to *themselves*. In other words, it's irrelevant that you see/hear them confess to their believing in god, they only make such affirmations to remind *themselves* that they believe.

And even if you only tell yourself that you believe in god/Jesus/allah and you don't back up your beliefs with actions that would honour what your religion has taught you, then you still commit idolatry, you just aren't bragging about it to everyone else.

if I see that you are a good person by the actions you take, then you can believe whatever you want... what you believe in means nothing to me, I don't care what you believe, it's your actions that will earn you my respect, or indeed, my contempt.

SO FUCKING WHAT?

when you say you believe... well? ahem, so fucking what?

who cares if you believe in Jesus? what difference does that even make if you believe in god? what do I care if you praise Allah?

that's like saying that you have a science degree, well, so what? What have you *done* with that degree? got a job? got a nice house? discovered some fancy science thing that will benefit all humanity? well?

Just saying you believe is also like making up things on your resume, you've said all this fancy stuff about yourself, but if you don't live up to the image that you have painted, you're just full of shit, are you not? just saying you believe is like saying you are a cop, but then you go break the law every chance you get.

a person can say they have read the bible, or they can tell another person to read the bible, but reading the bible isn't the point of the bible is it? so just saying "read the bible" means nothing, you are making it out to be some sort of proof to justify your beliefs, it is *not* proof.

*YOU* are the proof of the message in the bible/torah/koran. *YOU* and your actions which you supposedly base on your beliefs are the only supporting evidence you have to show that you "believe in god", at least, the only evidence that actually matters.

If you don't demonstrate what you have learnt, then you are not doing anything but making the torah/bible/koran out to be some sort of thing that will magically make me believe.

that's bullshit, just read and believe? if the person asking you to read the bible isn't committing idolatry, then they are asking you to commit it instead.

by that same notion, the "scientific fields" of creationism/intelligent design, are incredibly elaborate examples of idolatry.

Creationism is a form of confirming your faith, ie. if creationism is true, then that validates the supporting ideology, but, creationism is a "thing", if you need a thing to validate your beliefs, you commit idolatry.

you say your beliefs give you good moral guidance? well how can they if you just focus on "things" that symbolise your religion, and not on what you have supposedly learnt from it?

the message that your religion taught you, and how you behave in accordance with those teachings, is what actually matters.

JUST SAYING YOU BELIEVE, THAT'S BRAGGING

The boy who cried wolf, comes to my mind at this point when I think of people who "believe in" something but don't back up their bragging by demonstrating what they have learnt. And it *is* bragging if you don't back up your words with actions, as you must earn the right to brag, do you not?

when a believer speaks to non-believers and they just say that they are a believer in god, or that they Praise Jesus, or that they read the bible, or whatever praisy thing it is they have to say about their beliefs, that does *not* convey anything meaningful and useful to the non-believer... it does not demonstrate that the believer has learnt anything whatsoever from their religion, so their bragging means nothing to me, at least, nothing that they *want* it to mean.

this is the case because there is no common point of reference, a believer bases their beliefs on their feelings (eg "I feel that the bible/torah/qur'an is the word of god and that it has good things to teach"), and a non-believer also bases their very *lack* of belief in god/Jesus/allah upon their feelings as well (eg. "I feel that the bible/torah/qur'an is full of shit because too much 'bad' has been done in the name of what little 'good' that can be found in it")...

we are humans, humans feel, beliefs are based on feelings, anything solely involving feelings, is bound to be unable to be easily communicated between a believer and a non-believer because there is no common point of reference in any meaningful conversation because belief in god is completely based upon *feelings*... (unless, of course, the parameters are explicitly established about what sort of 'god' is being spoken about, which can be a *very* painful process in itself)

so this idea of god, that a believer has, is just that.. it's *their* personal *idea* of god, it's *their* personal feelings on the matter, because if it wasn't, you'd be able to show me some evidence that would instantly validate your faith, and if you have proof of your "god", you don't need faith, do you?

JUST SAYING THAT YOU BELIEVE DOESN'T MEAN A THING

so by just saying that you are a believer, as soon as someone hears/reads that, that notion you have described means nothing, because if that's supposed to mean something, it doesn't ... how can it? there is no context, so the meaning is open to interpretation.

so in that regard, it does mean *one* thing.

it does mean that *you* are now speaking on behalf of this thing you have just confessed to having a belief in, *you* are now the personal representative of what ever it is you're trying to 'sell', so it is *you* that will be judged by your actions and by those actions, your behaviour will then become part of the definition of whatever it is you're trying to tell us about.

eg. just say the pope tried to cover up child rape, from that point on, whenever someone says something about "christianity", I think of pope's that try to cover up the fact that priests fuck little children

and the same could be said from a believer's point of view as well, if someone purporting to be an atheist acted like a prick to them, their definition of atheism would then expand to include the idea that atheists are pricks.

which is fair enough, but.... non-believers do not go around boasting that they believe in anything that supposedly inspires them to be "good" people, which is the implication of saying that "you believe in god/Jesus/allah", right?

so the choice is yours in how to act, if by your actions you are judged to be a good person, you will then be putting in a good word for whatever it is you say that you believe in.

however, if you are a prick, then that attitude will be added to the essence of what it means to be whatever it is you're purporting to be.. ie. like it or not, you speak for your faith, if you do not want to speak for your faith, then it's best not to advertise it.

eg. if you go around saying you're a christian, and then you threaten people by saying you are going to snap their necks, you *will* be held as the *shiniest* example of your faith... the *Very* *very* *Shiniest* example

In other words, if you want to praise Jesus/allah/god, then good for you, I'm not stopping you, but it's your actions that you are judged by, your words of praise and other various adulations are nothing but idolatrous noise to the non-believer.

You say you are a believer? well we fucking heard you the first zillion times, so now it's time to show us what you have learnt, because thus far, for every one christian actually apparently conforming to the christian ideas that I was taught (Jesus said to love everybody), I have seen at least a hundred that do not "Do unto others as they would have others do unto them"....

god still could have made the universe Mr Hawking! (religion v science)

recently Stephen Hawking has made the announcement that god did not make the universe, which many of us suspected all along, like "DERRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!", but of course this has sparked an outrage from the god-did-itters, again, so once again we see the "faithful" showing their extreme lack of faith, that their faith in god is "unshakeable"!!!

bahahahha! dickheads!

Or perhaps it would be more correct to say that this adverse reaction to what Hawking has said, is because people are demonstrating their complete lack of *imagination* in this 'being', they describe as god

However you want to look at it, the people upset at Mr Hawking, have imagined a god that has somehow been "defeated" by Mr Hawking. And if his words have somehow offended or otherwise upset the believer, then those people getting upset clearly have a limited idea of god, because how else can a single personal human opinion about god, upset so many faithsketeers?

If somebody's idea of god can be "defeated" then that is proof that their "god" is limited, and the only limit imposed on god, is the limit of a person's imagination.

And *any* god that can be defeated, defies the very concept of god, therefore their idea of god can not possibly be about a "real" god, so that limited idea of god that people have in their heads, *must* be *completely* in the mind of its believer.

In other words, many people do not think big enough about their god, because 5000yrs ago, god had made the earth and everything on it, and had made two bright lights in the sky, and lots of other little lights in the sky... that's a lot of stuff, and while that was *everything* back then, it didn't quite convey the appropriate impression of the sheer size of the universe that we know about today.

ie. we estimate that there are a hundred thousand million galaxies, at least, each containing something like a thousand million stars, *each*

point is, the universe went from being about one light day across 5000yrs ago, to the estimated size today of being some 78 billion light years across or whatever size it is that just doesn't make sense if you think about it, but the whole time, what god had apparently made during the past 5000yrs, actually turned out to be bigger and bigger and bigger as our science of the universe improved.. this perfect god was time and time again shown to have been an under estimate on the part of its believers.

this is proof of idolatry, isn't it?

god made the earth, oh and god made the sun and moon... oh and the planets .. and all their moons.. and the asteroids... oh and the other stars .. and the nebula... and the galaxies ... and the galaxy clusters ... and the black holes.. and the super-massive black-holes .. oh and god made the universe ... clearly the concept of what god has done has expanded over the last few thousand years, much to the reluctance of believers at times.

when your idea of something turns out to be different to how that something is in reality, that's idolatry, that's being a fanatic, that's hero worship, whatever the fuck you want to call it, you are bullshitting yourself about god, because the "real" god, if there actually is one, could NOT possibly by defeated by Mr Hawking, or any OTHER human for that matter.

So, if your god can be displaced by some human notion, then your GOD was just not big enough to begin with, therefore, your god wasn't the "real" god, and the first (christian) commandment is basically: "thou shalt not worship any god other than the real god"... so anyone getting upset about their god being displaced, is going to HELL for worshipping the WRONG god.

Real world example: how often has some person that you have idolised, turned out to be a total jerk in reality? maybe the pop star you grew up loving in the 80s, turned out to be a paedophile? or how about the sports-person you thought was brilliant at their game, who turned out to be some steroid popping, bigoted homophobic, wife beating, arrogant racist? or the scientist whose work is still used in everyday science, still thought that god made the universe in six days?

The idea, or the concept, you had of this person turned out to be wrong.

This is the same effect with god, but in this case, the god idea changes gradually over many years, co-incidentally, as our science improves.

This is proof that people's idea of god, is often not big enough, because they need to keep moving the goal posts, very reluctantly at times, because science has yet again, explained something that was traditionally explained by the believer as being done by god, because only a god could explain this fantastically fantastical fantastic thing, right?

well, that was WRONG!!

This means that the believer was so small minded about their god, that when another human concept came along, it was ABLE TO DISPLACE the believer's notion of god.

In fact, the whole reason for the dark ages, was because the church wanted what we knew of the universe to actually stay as "god did it", eg. they wanted it to stay in line with what was written a thousand years before.

Anyone still trying to get science out of the bible, is deliberately trying to perpetuate the dark ages. Using things written a thousand years ago by people who knew little to nothing of how science works, is *not* science, because eventually old ideas are completely thrown away, and quite frankly, the bible was not much of a starting point in terms of "science", and to clutch onto a symbol of a previous time as being some sort of thing that it isn't, well that's idolatry too, isn't it?

god is god, there is nothing that could "defeat" it, and yet, we still have people getting upset when told that god didn't do this, and that god didn't do that, and that god doesn't exist .. boo frikking hooo ..

how is that possible? the only way god can be defeated, is if this god in your mind is a shoddy pathetic example of "god", because if your god can be defeated, then your god was never big enough to be worthy of being called god in the first place.. this is proof of idolatry, as your idea of god, was too small, and how can god be too small unless *you* were worshipping the *WRONG* god?

if your idea of god is too small, then you're idea of god is not the same as the "real" god, because the "real" god could *never* be defeated by the opinion of some scientist guy.

this is why supernatural beliefs are supposed to be personal things, because you should expect them to be challenged for being too small if you must insist on stating those beliefs in public.

someone who truly believed in the awesome nature of god, would realise that "making the universe", would be a small and petty task for a god anyway, so one should not be disappointed when told that their god didn't make the universe, as it was a trivial task for a "god" in the first place.

how about god made existence itself? that's a metaphorically vague task for god to have done that can't be defeated by science, or how about god made "the nothing" that became the something that we are familiar with if you want to be "specific"?

any true believer in god, would not even have thought up the concept of a being called "god" in the first place, god would then just be part of what *is*, and you would not think about it at all.... like gravity, you don't believe in gravity, do you?? does believing in gravity make it work, does it? you would just accept it as being there as part of what *is*, if nobody mentioned "gravity" you most likely would never have thought to identify this downward motion gravity thing *as* a downward motion, because it would be normal, it would be all that you knew, it would be part of your very existence, so much so it wouldn't even have a name, at least until someone taught you about it

god should be the same, you should just believe in god, and leave it at that, giving it any quality, is bound to wrong, so is therefore likely to be idolatry, and for people so fracking worried about going to hell, you probably want to stop committing idolatry every day.

Prayer in School (christianity flaws #5)

What is the point of saying prayer in public schools any way? or any school for that matter, or in public at all?

Matthew 6:5 And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites [are]: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

Matthew 6:6 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.

But let's just forget that Jaaaayzuz basically taught that if you pray in public that you are actually bragging that you are a believer because you are merely praying for the sake of being *Seen* giving your praise, shall we?

Do people attend prayer services so as to be seen so as to fit in with the flock and not have to be asked "why weren't you in church on Sunday?" for the rest of the week?

And what does repeating some prayer teach a kid anyway? Does it teach the kids anything?

What exactly does reading the bible in some daily prayer service actually achieve anyway? What bits of the bible are they wanting to 'teach' anyway? all the hateful stuff of the Old Testament ?? Oh that will really help the kids learn compassion, not!

Most of the "prayers" that I have seen from people online, have merely been thanks to Jesus, they give praise, as if to say

"LOOKATME!!! I believe in Jesus!""

What does saying praise to such and such do for kids?

If that's what these prayers in school are supposed to be about then not only can you kick that person in the arse on the way out of the door, you can tell them as well that giving praise to something that they clearly know nothing about is idolatry! *sigh*

99.9% of religion is idolatry, well, that's what it seems like. but then again, anyone getting their religion right wouldn't be making a big deal out of it. So it is probably fair to say that any expression of a person's religion is idolatry or very close to it. (Religion being the three biggest pains in the arse, Jewism, Christism, and Muhammadism)

Kids should be taught that praise is *earned*. Maybe kids would have a few less heroes that are sluts and rapists and molesters and drug addicts and bad singers if they didn't so readily give praise where it's not deserved and praising Jesus repeatedly serves no purpose but to brain wash a person into doing just that....

when you praise something so easily, you set yourself up for disappointment.

If a religion/god should be praised, then the kid should learn what the religion is about and praise should be given based upon its merits in the *good* qualities that that religion *teaches*.

Saying prayer is pointless if you don't know the religion you follow, and by the sheer volume of people who just praise Jesus all the time, it's clear that many people have missed the point and probably only identify as being christian in order to get eternal life.

You're supposed to get good values and lessons out of your religion, not little mantras to repeat to yourself to remind you that when you die that it's not all over and that you didn't waste your time on earth being a nobody, and religion is notorious for doing just that, making people feel like they are no good because every one is a sinner or some rubbish.

However, if all you do is say these little prayers of thanks to make you feel like a "good" person, then you will end up lying to yourself that you are a good person, because whether you actually are a good person or not is beside the point as you didn't become a good person by saying prayers did you? you became a good person by the good things you actually do.

I think that was the point of Matthew 6:5-8 and saying prayers in public is just a social thing to blend in under the premise of the whole "when we die we'll all get to hang out together" and if you get that fear of god (death, infinity, the super-unknown) into the child, it's easier to make those irrational fears hit critical mass as a child has far less control over their emotions than an adult.

Just saying praise also feeds the ego of the child, "I believe in Jesus - YOU DON'T - therefore *I* am morally superior to you!" ... I've seen people claim *exactly* this in as many words and yet these same people are likely to not be able to tell you what the highest two commandments in christianity are ....

The bottom line is that the people who want prayer in school are showing their lack of faith, people aren't going to church any more, so they need to get in and get at the kids to brain wash them at the only other place they can allegedly get at them: in the schools.

Just saying you are christian is idolatry (christianity flaws #4)

By just saying that you are christian, or if you just say that someone needs Jesus, or you say that they need to read the bible, or that they need to follow the lord, or saying that you have reached out and touched christ, or by saying some other religious christian mantra bullshit, you have NOT demonstrated what it is to be christian at all, you are *all* talk if this is what you think "being" christian is all about. ergo, you are ANTI-christ ...

The Christ character led by example, his actions spoke for him, so he didn't need to go around insisting to people that he was a good person and then do the opposite like his "followers".

He *was* a good person because that was *how* he lived his life. (according to the stories)

How many christians today live their lives even remotely like christ did?

Is that even possible in a western society? it's just not practical to give all your stuff away!

Are you christ like? Do you constantly evaluate whether you are doing the right thing by the other person?

Do you even do that ONCE a day, or are you so caught up in the rat race of your selfishness trying to sell everyone your religiously self reaffirming mantras to everyone that you are a good person?

are you trying to tell us that you believe in Christ or are you trying to convince yourself that you believe in Christ simply because YOU DON'T believe in Christ? could it be that you actually ONLY believe in merely "SAYING THAT YOU BELIEVE IN CHRIST!"???

That's right, if you go around saying that you believe in Jesus, it's an almost certainty that you are NOT being a Christ like person, because anyone being Christ like would not have time nor would they even need to tell everyone that they are christian or that we need to follow the bible, or that Jesus is lord or blabh lba hblah blahblah

therefore, if you are one of the Praise-Jesussers, you commit idolatry, because you are taking words, and spewing them into the air like they were meant to mean something.

Worse still, is that just saying that somebody should be a christian and then having some sort of outburst because you're offended when they tell you to take a hike, is exactly the same thinking that can result in people being *killed* just because they disagree with somebody's opinion

An emotional outburst over a FUCKING STORY is the *very* first step an individual can take towards a society that cowers in fear of the unknown. And fears that can not be rationalised can lead to a "mob justice" type of society (see the dark ages), because if you get enough like-minded fuck heads together getting upset that their precious feelings have been hurt, they will likely take the law into their own hands... I guarantee you that

what if two people demand that a third do what they say? then a fourth, and so on and so forth? Can you say hundreds of years inquisitions and crusades and reformations?

That sort of bullshit isn't dead today, if enough people get offended when somebody insults their religion, that's called a mob, remember Pakistan? How they protested in the streets over CARTOONS? and like most mobs, it's reasonable to assume that most of those people NEVER saw those images, by the way, so they had NO idea what they were even protesting about, much like those people who protested Obama's health reforms, they didn't know SHIT about it when asked - and is no different to these fuck heads who denounce evolution by saying ... "WE DID NOT COME FROM MONKEYS! THEREFORE EVOLUTION IS A LIE!"

Those mobs are driven mad by emotion, and that's all religion is, it is pure mad emotion, there is no "actuality" to religion, and if there is something actual to your religion, then it is human made, end of story, and if you hold that *human* thing above what your religion teaches, then that's idolatry.

Even your very own thoughts making assumptions about Jesus and god or whatever supreme being you worship is idolatry, they are thoughts that you have made up. They are *human* thoughts.

And seeing how the bible is of human origin, that makes every *bit* of it idolatry if you don't *demonstrate* what you have been taught from the bible

that's what the fucking bible says, fucking read it, if you don't believe me

just saying "Jesus is LORD" is idolatry, because you are BRAGGING like that is supposed to mean something, it means nothing, and you are merely saying that you are a believer, so you are not *being* a believer, therefore it's idolatry.

ie. you can't just say you are christian - you MUST **be** christian in order to make the claim that you are christian ...

the god v satan thing .... why now? (religiorant)

i've probably said similar before but, the question i have with all this god v satan thing is ....

why now?

god has been around for an eternity - supposedly - and Satan presumably nearly as long - but if we remember our story books, Satan is kicked out of heaven at some stage, or rather, forbidden from entering any more, the bible isn't very clear on when this happened exactly ..

but ..

Satan actually made a visit to heaven in the book of Job, in fact, Satan tricks god into allowing him to punish Job .. furthermore, the *only* people who are actually killed by Satan in ALL of the bible, are killed in the book of Job..

point being, Satan was in heaven apparently for a visit, which he apparently did quite often, so this makes me think the book of Job was from the time when Satan was still our "guardian" because at one stage god sent Satan (Lucifer) to watch over us with a third of angels of heaven

rumours are that god sent Lucifer to earth because he was jealous of him... Lucifer's superior charm and wit, one would assume, was cramping god's style...

but let me ask you this, if you created a life, as god supposedly did with Lucifer/Satan and all the other angels, would you not want your creation to be able to grow up and beyond your capabilities? why would god not be the same?

how often is a parent jealous of their children doing better than they ever did? I've no idea, but that happens right?

so what changed after all this time? what would make Satan suddenly at some point after the Book of Job, rise up and try to attack heaven?

why???

imagine if you had been sent to a planet by some authority and you spent a few thousand years watching over this planet of people, making sure... hmm... of what i don't know, maybe another god coming along and kicking over god's sand castle? hmmm....

but, regardless, imagine you've been watching this planet, then this authority figure that sent you to watch over them in the first place, suddenly decided to kill everyone on this planet you were looking after, what would you think of that?

i think i'd be rather annoyed and saddened, if someone came along and killed all the people I'd been assigned to look after, in fact, I think this is the *whole* dispute between god and satan.

so Lucifer/Satan's god given assignment was to look out for us, but maybe it was decided that these angels who went to earth with Satan who "mated" with the local population had tainted the blood line and were assumed to be the cause of all the evil in the world..

after all that's why the flood was sent, to rid the world of evil, right? that's why god killed everyone, to wipe the blood line clean.... right?

but the thing is - god sent the flood, to clear out the blood line created by these "wicked" angels - so Satan, thought he would trust god, after all, god knows best.

So Lucifer/Satan went with the judgement of wiping out everyone on earth to be sure that a pure "human" race was created, done so as to prevent evil from returning, after all that's why god sent the flood, to clear the world of evil.... (The serpent in the Garden, was rumoured to be a "wicked" angel called "Gadriel" and not Lucifer/Satan )

but god made a mistake, because after the flood evil persisted *anyway*, because even with a pure human blood line, humans were capable of evil..

oh and Adam and Eve were just a statistical anomaly in their turning bad ... and Cain killing his brother was just a fluke (and why did Cain need to wear that mark to warn other people if he was one the first people to exist?)

so Satan/Lucifer eventually came to the conclusion that god's reasoning for wiping out the people of earth was baseless, so Satan suddenly rose up and attacked heaven with his angels??

i doubt it was quite that simple

i think god was going to wipe us all out again for being corrupt

but Satan saw it coming this time, and this time Satan wasn't going to let us humans be wiped out again and he rose up with his angels and did his job as assigned by god...

apparently that first battle between god and Satan was a draw

the natural assumption for me at this point, is that Lucifer has exceeded the capabilities of god, and finds it beneath him to put up with his cranky old-man.

this perfect god has become senile, cranky and deranged and has become sadistic in its love of inflicting deliberate pain upon us and Satan made god back off.

at this point Satan is bored of his old man and his bullshit, maybe Satan killed god, he's been awful quiet of late, after all...

maybe Satan said to god, fuck you, I can do better than you can and then showed up as Jesus, to teach us compassion

but god didn't like how this was turning out better than he could do, so god then sent his loyal angel Gabriel to reinstate the original eye for an eye sadistic bullshit with Islame by goading Muhammad into spreading the religion of hate.

"god did it" is lazy ... (religiorant)

note: i don't mean to make these blogs so long, and some of them start as just one line, but every time I proof read, well, i keep adding stuff

some people feel the need to "know" how it all started

"it" being the meaning of life, the universe and everything.. so, if you must know where the universe came from, make something up, that's what every one *else* has done, no one knows for sure, so jump on the band wagon and join in, and be *creative* ..

but ya know, the question is just so much fun, at this point, does it even matter if god put us here or not?

if we did *somehow* find out that god put us here, the next question would be *why*?? .... the point being is, at what point do we stop this line of thought that serves no fucking purpose in the first place?

we are here, apparently, it may not be much, but we are here, so what does it matter if there is a 'who' behind it all?

the *hard* bit about the concept of there actually being a cosmos is already out of the way, pinch yourself if you don't think the cosmos exists!

but if you still want to "know" how we got here, then saying "god did it" is not knowledge, it's an assumption, it's a theory, it is a stab in the dark, but unlike scientific assumptions, theories and stabs in the dark, "god did it" has absolutely no factual basis whatsoever, and it serves no function to assume that "god did it" in the first place at all!!

because what's the point in just *leaving* it as "god did it"!

how does that help us move forward in life, the universe, and the everything?

this god supposedly gave us a brain, why would we expect that we aren't supposed to use it? did god expect us to *only* sit around all day and eat drink and be merry? what was the point in giving us a body if this is just a precursor to the afterlife?

If the afterlife was so important, it wouldn't be called the "afterlife" - AFTER - LIFE - got it? means life is OVER - do we really think our thoughts and memories are going to go with us when we die?

your thoughts and memories are being stored in your physical brain, that is left behind when you die, people... that body isn't going with you after you die

you offend your own intellect by being so lazy so as to not actually think about god and the afterlife and make at least some *reasonable* assumptions, even saying "I don't know" is a more intelligent thing to say than "god did it", if you are a goddiditter, then you make one big *unreasonable* assumption.

If you don't know an answer to something, then say I DON'T KNOW...

If some one asks you something and you say "I don't know" you are being honest, if you make something up based on your feelings and opinions, it's very likely that you are telling a lie, although you wouldn't think that because a lie is often not a lie from the liar's point of view.

in fact, "I don't know" is the best thing to think about god, because assuming "knowledge" of something pertaining to god is probably an offence to your god, that's probably because making assumptions about god means that you create your own version of god in your mind. So this god in your brain, ends up being what you've previously heard about god, plus this "god did it" assumption you just made or more than likely, you are repeating someone else's "god did it" assumption

a "real life" example: if you assume something about someone, then your thoughts about that person are potentially different to the actual person, at least until you find out first hand yourself if your assumption about that someone was indeed correct

but you are bound to be wrong, especially if you had never met that person, nor heard their acoustically registrable voice speak, or had even seen a picture of them, and the only vague likeness of them, a painting, that was from four hundred years ago.

So your idea of that person would not be the same as that actual person when you finally found out the truth about them, would it?

therefore, the person you imagine in your mind, was not the actual person, it was a shoddy copy of that person you had made up with your assumptions.

Your idea was basically correct about that person, kind of, sort of, looked a bit like, but this copy of this person in your mind was *wrong*, and it is made *wrong* by even the tiniest little assumption that you make about that person. Although, it's more likely that you weren't that creative and you've just believed the gossip somebody has just told you about that person

And yes, the subtle point if you didn't get it, is that the bible, the qu'ran, the torah, etc, well, it's ALL gossip about god

all of which is pointless from an intellectual point of view - and being able to use your brain's intellect is how you get a job is it not? using your brain is how you make a living, isn't it?..

you would give yourself a head start in life by not assuming that god did anything at all, or if you must believe in god, just go with the god made *Everything* and let it rest at that, so when science comes along and explains something, it won't be stepping on your faith.

and to be honest, if you are worried that humans are going to become cleverer than god, then that is your *problem* and you are making it ours as well.. and you know what that problem is? it's that this god you created in your brain, was *limited* by your *own* creativity, because you went and assumed this thing about god in the first place or you never thought about it at all!

go look at employment statistics if you think "god did it" is useful - how many people got a job because "god did it" lent some credence to an occupation?? oh priests? really? one person in a hundred thousand would be a priest, great job opportunities and career paths there (*sarchasm* [sic])

if you don't use your brain's ability to think for itself when you're a kid, it'll stagnate, if you don't use it when you are an adult, it'll STAGNATE, and then you can be one of the worker types, the ones who just move through life like cattle, just going through the motions in life for the sake of life, you'll be one of those types that are having their jobs replaced by computers, the "goddiditters" are deliberately being one of those types who will become a *burden* on society if they haven't already, because they are *unskilled*

there is nothing more draining on an economy that spends money on people with no return on that investment, and to be one of those people deliberately, then you are using your religious beliefs to justify being a SLACKER.

So we have these goddiditter slacker people, who have the audacity to insist that non-believers explain where the universe came from, and yet, rather than *think* about it themselves, they just repeat what somebody else has assumed, that's being a sheep, that's being intellectually lazy cattle...

can you say MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO ?

The same people then scoff at any notion a non-believer presents, with that notion usually being something like "oh it had to be more complicated than just 'god did it'!!!"!! ..

Is the believer out right admitting that they haven't even thought about how "god did it" either? or maybe they have thought about it and refuse to acknowledge how ludicrously stupid their belief is?

"la la la la la la I am not listening to you Jeffrey la la la la la" --[Eddie Murphy - "Beverly Hills Cop"]

The dead-set believer will also scoff at the notion that the universe was always here or just appeared out of the nothing at some point, yet they would have us believe the even more unlikely notion that god was always here and made the universe just appear out of the nothing at some point.

Hypocrite much?

Point is, if you are just going to say "god did it", don't fucking bother even saying it out loud, as you are helping to retard the intellectual development of the entire planet with your intellectually lazy "god did it" mantras...

"god did it" is not using your mind, what was that quote? "a mind is a terrible thing to waste", i wonder if that person was talking about religion and i wonder how many children never grew up to be scientists because they were told early on in life that "god did it", implying to them to not bother to think about the universe. ( actually that quote was from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Negro_College_Fund#The_UNCF_motto )

so rather than wondering about something intellectually, thus building all those tiny neural pathways adapted to rational and critical thinking, instead, a highway of one-way thinking gets constructed where all roads lead to the "god did it" wasteland of unused brain matter

And seriously, if god made the universe 6000yrs ago, then who is to say that god didn't just make the universe at the very moment you finish reading this sentence?

what do you think about that?

If god was so brilliant, all those memories we have of all those events in our lives, could have all been created in our memories, like a computer program already in motion and we are just all the characters that have been created for the game, some of us in cars, watching tv, hunting fish, collecting fresh water, whatever, it already has a vast history "database" and by exploring it we add to the history "database"... have you played massively multiplayer games? World of Warcraft perhaps? have we not considered that if "god did it" then god is just some programmer who made the universe, and set it running by clicking an icon?

if god is so brilliant, that task is not beyond god's powers, and some of the religious have *already* accepted as *fact* that this is exactly what god has done ALREADY, in that god has made the universe "as is"!... eg. fossil and geologic records clearly indicate the world is older than 6000yrs (oh the devil put those fossils there to tempt us) and light from things further than 6000 light years away would start to appear in the sky all the time. for instance: Eta Carina is 7500light years away, so if the universe was made 6000 years ago, the light from Eta Carina still wouldn't have reached us yet and would not reach us for about another 1500 years..

so not only did god have to make the universe 6000yrs ago, it also had to create, or trick us into thinking that somehow all the events that appear to have happened *before* that, did actually happen, eg. the Andromeda galaxy is about 2.5million light years away, god would have to create the light shining from that galaxy for such that it looked like it came from the Andromeda galaxy for 2.494 million light years of space...

in other words, if the universe is 6000 years old, then we are seeing light from distant objects, that *never* actually came *from* those objects, the light we see, was created "in transit", it would mean that god created the universe such as to trick or fool us into thinking the universe was much older than 6000 years ..

so if god *did* make the universe 6000 years ago, then god is lying to us, because every time we look into the night sky, we see LIES, FABRICATIONS, MISINFORMATION ... and seeing how complex and massive the universe is, then god went to an awful lot of trouble to tell us one very very VERY massively big lie.

So if go around telling people that god *did* do it, then you are asking people to believe in magic, either that or we are just some computer simulation that has been switched on at some arbitrary point

this is what you are asking people who like to think about stuff rationally when you say "god did it". you are asking us to believe YOUR lies that you quite happily tell to yourself.

So, according to the goddiditters, we are here because of magic, or we are some living simulation brought into existence because somebody decided to click on the "RUN" icon, that's what "god did it" means

and people find the concept of god *not* existing to be offensive?? clearly those people have not thought about what they are saying

So if you *really* want to know where the universe came from, why don't you actually think about it and come up with some ideas yourself, and maybe if we all put our ideas together, we'll get "there" a *whole* *lot* sooner

and the sooner we get "there", the sooner those with their "god did it" mantras can feel safe as it becomes more and more apparent that no matter how much we know, we are NOT going to get "there", and that this supposed all powerful god of theirs is *still* more powerful than humans, but maybe by then their little egos won't get over inflated by thinking they have a direct connection to the creator of the universe who will look out for them when they die such that their little souls won't get lost and roam about the universe aimlessly forever...

*face*palms*

it's astounding (time is fleeting) that people get worried when science starts to step into those places that were previously identified as a "god did it" realm, madness, takes control.

and ya know, just because something is explained, it does *not* discount that god did *not* do it anyway!!! how fickle one's beliefs have to be that someone can rattle them by explaining some science thing?

UNIVERSE IN A NUTSHELL

so in the spirit of making shit up based on reasonable assumptions...

i propose this, and no it's not science, in fact I would be reluctant to even call it weird science, but i've not heard any explanation for any of this whole universe origin thing and, like the point of the blog, "god did it" is just not an option, it's LAZY, even "I don't know" is a more credible answer than "god did it"..

"I don't know" implies that you have at least accepted the enormity of the universe, but it just doesn't bother you or that you'll get back to the question when time permits you because it's just not that important to actually living a life!

The point of the exercise is to think about it, without plugging in some far fetched stab in the dark, at least have a stab in the dark by attempting to put some light on what you are stabbing at!!

so here we go...

-=-=-=-=-=-=-

the empty vastness of space goes forever, forget our small universe, it's just one small bit of the cosmos, what i'm talking about, is what is beyond that and beyond that and well, you get the idea.

outer space, has a "negative" force to it, a "sucking effect", it tries to take objects and spread them apart, this is not a problem for solid rock-like matter, but for gases and other low density matter that doesn't have a central point of gravity to hold it together, outer space will tend to make those gases or liquids spread out.

This is demonstrated by our need to have space craft with sturdy hulls as outer space tries to suck the air out of the craft and into outer space where the gases would spread themselves out.

In fact, the "dark energy" that is apparently expanding our universe at an ever faster rate, may very well just be that negative force of empty space trying to spread everything apart. if you think of galaxies as if they were individual molecules of air it may help you to visualise it, because after all, if the universe is infinite in size, then a galaxy would be little more than an atom in size, probably less actually.

So the simplest explanation I can imagine as to where the matter came from and why anti-matter didn't wipe it out: there was "rip" in empty space itself caused by that negative sucking effect of trillions of empty light years of space against a trillion light years of empty space and that rip created a great ribbon of energy which created a whole lot of matter and anti-matter, most of which annihilated itself against each other, but perhaps an unequal ratio of matter and anti-matter (favouring matter) got sucked into the rip in the space before all the anti and regular matter had a chance to pair up and cancel itself out against each other.

of course there are questions here: if the entire cosmos is infinite in size, why hasn't this "rip" been and gone and been done with already? perhaps because it's happening all over the cosmos, it didn't just make our universe, it made, makes, and is making, universes all the time, every day a universe the size of our own could be born and one could die off and they could be so far away that the light *never* reaches us, having been red shifted into oblivion.

and when one universe burns out the matter made by it will drift around for ever ... dead ... cold ... until it makes it's way into the next universe as debris or maybe it will get sucked up into a black hole, and who knows, maybe black holes can get too big and end up exploding too...

and maybe that was what the "rip" in space was in the first place, gravity got so strong, space not only collapsed into a black hole, but there was so much gravity, it ripped apart space... maybe there is a point where gravity becomes so strong that gravity itself can't escape, and booooom..... big rip, big bang. big crunch, big ... whatever

and why doesn't this ripping keep happening in our bit of the universe? gravity stops space itself ripping apart, so when there is a significant amount of mass in a particular bit of space, it stops space itself from ripping apart, that matter keeps space "together"

the point is to *think*, and not be lazy with that brain and to have fun, my guess above is far more intellectually based than "god did it", and who knows, that wild idea above could very much be wrong, but it could inspire a line of thinking that leads to an actual shred of truth, which is far more useful than "god did it"..

Assuming that people are not christian (christianity flaws #3)

This kind of fits in with the previous FLAW, imagine a scenario where person "A" walks up to person "B" in the street, in an effort to spread the "good news"...

A: You need Jesus Christ in your life!
B: Ohhhhhh.. Jeeesus... wow... thanks man! that's exactly what I wanted all my life. Sheeesh, Jesus! d'oh!!! I was just trying to think what this thing was that was missing in my life! Thanks! and it was oh sooo simple, I never would have guessed that I needed Jesus in my life. wow I didn't know what was missing, thanks dude! You really saved my life. Bless you, in the name of Jesus Christ, our LORD!

"B" shakes the hand of "A", and "B" walks away down the street... "A" is too stupid to realise that "B" has just 'had a go' at "A" in a light hearted punishment for being such an assuming bastard for not first checking if "B" was already a believer, but "B" didn't find it necessary to tell everybody about it by "spreading the word", he spread the word, by being *nice* to people...

*rolls*eyes*

And when I refer to "christians", like in the example above, I'm talking about the busy bodies, Jesus this, Jesus that, the "you're going to hell" mob, the god hates this-god hates that crowd, you need Jesus, the ten commandments this, the ten commandments that, god is all powerful, god is blah blah, god is great!

ahem!!

these are things that we are *told*, not discussed with, we are *told* these things.

It's not a dialogue about the teachings of Jesus, we are just told these little mantras. "Praise Jesus" "Trust in God" blah balh .. go read the bible ... blah blah blah .. you must believe in Jesus to read the bible ... blah lbah lbah lbah

We aren't told anything of benefit, we are commanded to follow *their* will, just because they say it, they are assuming that we will come to Jesus just by saying his name, because slapping on the "Jesus" label somehow validates that assumption for them, but doesn't make it so to us...

anyone that passionate about their Jesus should know what was most important, but no, they have obviously assumed quite a lot... perhaps they heard that Jesus loves everyone, and maybe in their tiny little world, they *are* everyone... but that's still an assumption that errs in the favour of the selfish christian, who was supposedly taught to be selfless.

and what's the point of that mantra thing anyway? you don't learn anything by repeating phrases, parrots repeat phrases too..

Just being told something and following it - well - that's called "Blind Faith"

All of these little mantras people come up with, they're basically assumptions.

They are assumptions, because at the base level, when people say these little mantras like Jesus is *LORD* (or Allah Ackbah, or any random religious phrase) they expect that other people will know what that phrase means

By assuming that other people already know what you are talking about, you are ignoring what you have supposedly learnt about Jesus, and instead you are just saying that you follow Jesus, and assuming somehow that the person you are trying to recruit already *knows* exactly what it is that you are trying to talk about!! ie. So somehow, the figure of Jesus is more important than what he taught, because if the teachings of Jesus were more important than praising him, you would *be* christ-like, instead of merely insisting to everyone that you are christian!!!

The loudest christians have totally lost the plot with their own religion, because to just say that you are christian, or just assume that other people will believe in what you say without demonstrating what it means to be christian, well that is *idolatry*, because you are holding up the *label* "christian" out in front of you as if it's supposed to mean something to everyone equally.

IT DOES NOT MEAN ANYTHING

If you think it does, then think *again*...

Clearly, by the example set by so many people purporting to be "christian", that just being a christian means absolutely nothing to the non-believer, clearly even being "christian" can sometimes mean nothing to the person saying it.

In fact, by the example set by certain other "christians", just saying that you are christian is enough to be an insult to those who know about the history of christianity, ie. crusades, the inquisitions, the reformation, witch hunts, dark ages, blah blah blah, there is little to be proud of when it comes to the history of christianity. oh what's that? christianity has done some good things? *some* good things? come back and brag to me about how great christianity is when it has eliminated world povery, 'kay?

A truly "good" christian would acknowledge the religious bullshit of the past and would not gloss over it by disassociating with previous christian behaviour by saying that they are different to them, that they were not true christians, or that they where Catholics, or that wouldn't happen today, or that things were different back then, or blah blah blah...

how do we think all this christian religious "holier than thou" bullshit started in the first place?

because one lot of people made the assumption that they were better than the other lot.

they *assumed* that it was them that were the true believers, just like people do when they just assume other people are not christians, just like when christians assume they are better somehow than these christian people from the past.

By ignoring this, the christians are just setting themselves up for repeating history.

One dark ages was enough, thanks, and it's bad enough that we have to put up with the muslims and their dark ages today, don't bring back a christian one too.

Assuming someone is not a christian, is one of the biggest mistakes christians make when spreading the word, christians have already put me off ever being christian because they have cheapened the word so much with their assumptions that they have ruined it for everyone

and ya know, just because someone doesn't go around saying that they are christian, doesn't mean that they are not, in fact, a true christian would not feel compelled to announce their faith in the first place as they would be too busy doing good deeds to have time to sit around and make up assumptions about other people and be merely declaring that they are christian because it makes them feel all warm and fuzzy...

Stop spreading the News (christianity flaws #2)

*Jesus* did not *insist* that you follow his way, he did not badger people into following him - and he certainly did not teach that his fellow christians annoyingly insist and harass others that the "good" news be spread!

remember that parable where the rich dude had to give up his money in order to get into heaven? (the one where he says it's easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than it is for a rich man to enter heaven, thankfully i don't know what that verse is by heart)

Did Jesus insist that the rich dude do that?

No, he did not, that rich dude had to come to that all by himself. Jesus *let*him*be* when he saw that the rich guy didn't like the sound of what Jesus was proposing.

If Jesus had of insisted right then and there that the rich guy follow his way, he most likely would have put him off following "the way" ("The Way" is apparently what Jesus' teachings were called before they were hi-jacked by "christianity", so I've heard/read)

Jesus was probably cluey enough to know that there was no point in insisting to the rich dude to follow his teachings, as Jesus probably knew that people would *only* live by his teachings if they came to that decision by themselves, because if they didn't come to it by themselves, then there would have been no point because only *you* can only change *your* beliefs

However, if someone *can* change your beliefs, it's because you are a *sheep* and you are following because you want to fit in and get this eternal life or whatever bullshit it is that you think Jesus has allegedly promised you and you do that without coming to an understanding the teachings by yourself. ie. you are only telling yourself that you believe, you are not *actually* believing in the teachings of Jesus Christ.

In other words....

you can not wander up to me in the street say a few words and have me believe

you can not force people to believe

you can not legislate that people believe

you can not threaten people with violence to make them believe.

you can not beat the shit out of people to make them believe

you can not even kill someone's family to make them believe

you can not send me a message on some social network and tell me that I need to believe, thereby making me believe

in short: you can not go around telling other people about your fantasy stories (thus relieving yourself of any responsibility of actually *following* what you have allegedly been taught because you're too fucking busy "spreading the word") and have others believe as well!!!

In fact, the more violence, insults, insistence and the more annoyance you perpetuate while trying to spread the "good news", the more likely you are to destroy any inkling of a chance that this person will have a gander at this "christianity" thing you keep blabbering about to see what it entails.

that means you, Mr and Mrs and Ms christian annoyists!! You are *putting* people off your religion!! Well done, keep up the good work.

And the fact of the matter is that pretty much everyone in a "western" society has heard of Jesus, so there should be no need to spread the word at all, so if you really *do* want to spread the "good news", then your first stop should be Mecca.

Muslims need the teachings of Jesus way more than any non-believer that I can think of does.

So stop spreading the word to us "Westerners" and get on your bike and get your butt to Saudi Arabia, and let's see how they like the "good news" ... go on... git goin' ...

I'm serious .. and I'm talking about the positive messages in the bible, none of the hatred filled stuff ... if you filter out the "do nots" and only follow the "do"s, you'll do much better.

but are people that dumb that they need to "spread the news" when it takes just as long for them to say "praaaaayyzzzz Jaaaayyyyyzuuuuusss" or try to preach at me in some way, as it does for them to calmly and actually say or actually "do unto others" ??

what's that about?

I *really* want to know how, in what must be millions of people, perhaps even hundreds of millions, *how* does that happen, is it a materials thing? ie. have we become so accustomed to the whole process of getting something; using it up; chucking it away; getting a new one; that this is how we "westerners" treat people and our beliefs?

It's for this exact reason that I can't call myself christian, because other people call themselves "christian" but then they do not follow it in the fucking least, and *then* they get offended at you for your calling them out on their idiocy.

I see that there is a very good reason for separation of church and state in *many* people online - the scary "laws" they want implemented from their precious bible, shit! they don't even know what they are asking for!! All these people who pine for the ten commandments as the "law of the land" are extremely fucked in the head. They should try living in Iran where you have to follow the morals laid down by some holy scripture.... let's see how much they don't like a theocracy after actually living in one.

It is soooo pointless arguing with mental nut-case religious fanatic christians (or muslims or blah blah blah), if you can't talk to them calmly then just forget about talking to them, I say it's a waste of time - and you're more likely to solidify their beliefs then to win them over...

It's almost as if some crazy christian people just can't be bothered to *not* be part of the christinsanity crowd as it would be too inconvenient to not be christian, so much so that some nutters need to insist that other people think the "same" way and join them on the nutter train to Timbuktu.

eg. for some people, the dream is to grow up, find someone you like, get married, and live happily ever after.. but if we expand on that, some people assume that they have to have a christian wedding, so to cater for this (usually) rare event in their lifetime, they call themselves christian just to have the convenience of living the dream as it applies to them for that one event, then they go back to not giving a flying fuck about being christian at all. Meaning to say that there are people who justify calling themselves christians because they did some alleged christian thing *once* in their life.

I bet most people only think of being religious, when there's a new addition to the family (baptism), getting married in a church, and then when somebody dies and they have to go to church. The only other time people are "christian" is when they fill out their census forms.

And yes I do appreciate that christians are few and far between that actually insist on talking about their beliefs in the context of trying to preach to me... but I guess I am lucky in that regard.

It's a shame people in general are so brutally quick to find offence when they are on the internet -- because given how badly these apparent christians attempt to "spread the news", uhmmm... well, it's pretty fucking funny or offensive given the context of the insult to humanity....

If you are a christian, and maybe I should have put this at the start of the blog, then you are *supposed* to spread the news by showing everybody the good deeds you do in your everyday life, and you are to do that without making a big deal out of it

Because, you see, when everybody treats everybody else like that, then that's when we'll have world peace.... has anyone actually thought about what "world peace" would be like?

perhaps they have and it's just too much effort to be nice to other people, or maybe it would be no fun if people were nice to everyone?

Frank Sinatra sang about spreading the news too, it was a much catchier tune as opposed to being told that I *had* to do something, just because some busy body wandered up to me or saw my heathen arse on the Internet and decided that I needed to be told about Jesus...

dealing with religious fanatics? DON'T .. (religiorant)

Don't deal with them, just say your piece and move on.

If you are a non-believer, then there is a 90% chance that you are smarter than the religious person you are arguing with, so why are you even debating with parrots in the first place?

be sure to not turn into a parrot yourself whilst trying to share your views with the world..

The religious spout their mouths off to reaffirm their own beliefs and they don't care if those beliefs are stupid so repetition in stating your case trying convince them, is not useful.

Consider the parrot that repeats phrases, the parrot gets attention, it feels loved, it didn't need to do anything but repeat the phrases, it doesn't even know *what* it was saying, all it knows is that it gets attention and it feels loved when it says the pretty phrases, there is no need for the parrot to understand what it's saying as it gets love and attention without understanding any of it *at*all*.

So of course, telling the parrot that it's speaking dribble is pointless, as it doesn't fucking know exactly what it is saying in the first place.

Think about it - if someone can happily believe that Noah and his ark saved two of every creature on earth in a massive flood, the sheer volume of flaws in that story is incredible, so given that, not much you are going to say is going to get through.

Eg. The Ark story is a pretty story that makes the believer feel warm and fuzzy, it doesn't matter if the story is factually a steaming pile of shit.

So, the fanatic won't care if they are stupid or what they say is stupid or what they believe is stupid and if you tell them that they are stupid, the most likely reaction to being told that is to CLUTCH onto their beliefs even more rigidly.

This will not help you get your message across at all!!

So make your point, and move on!

And in all honesty, you should never expect them to come around to your way of thinking once you have told them they are fucking stupid, and frankly, you've probably put them off talking to the next non-believer who comes along who may just be able to hit that point of logic that will make their religious bindings start to unravel.

Therefore, in all practicality, there is little point to carrying on back and forth trading insults, you are wasting your time and energy trying to erase what could be decades of brainwashing and you easily damage somebody else's chance of de-converting them by persisting with trying to put your point across.

If you think you can change that religious brainwashing in the space of a day, you better think again as it is *you* that is the arrogant person, not the person with the stupid beliefs, they are just the silly parrots, repeating phrases over and over without thinking for themselves, their own arrogance from your point of view is nullified by their own stupid beliefs.

You, on the other hand, are cleverer than that, aren't you?

The more you argue, the more you demonstrate that you can't put your point across effectively, if you can't put your point across effectively, then cut your losses, and move on to the next parrot.

It's one thing to be stupid, but it's even stupider to think that you can convince the stupid to stop being stupid.

Just randomly insulting someone for their beliefs is a fast track to them rejecting your opinion outright and it's also a fast track to stopping other people from freeing these idiots from their idiocy.

Say your piece, and move on, this will give them time to consider what you have said, they won't consider anything if you don't respect them at least that much.

how does an internet "filter" stop child porn from actually happening?

we should be ashamed of internet filters and their attempts to block child pornography, but not because blocking the content is a technically stupid and infeasible idea; but because of one simple fact....

if you *know* a web address (such that you can put that IP or domain or full URL into an internet filter system) then you can make somebody or some company or even some country accountable for that web address..

if governments are serious about stopping child pornography from happening in the first place, why not stop it at the source? blocking the sites from the end user point of view is akin to sticking your head in the sand; just because somebody is blocked from downloading child porn, it doesn't stop the children from being abused.

oh and the government has a list of websites with inappropriate content? is that a wise idea? i *hope* that that list does *not* go *viral*....

but ignoring for the moment the very real possibility that this list could end up being a child porn collectors' dream and could end up triggering a world wide epidemic of kiddy porn traffic (imagine if a list of a million child porn sites was leaked? wasn't the test list leaked already?), but besides that, what are we doing blocking those web sites?

if you know the addresses, you should be going after the companies that own the IP addresses and getting them to prosecute or disclose the names of the people that are publishing the material so that they can be prosecuted!!

if the company who owns a particular IP address or domain name space won't reveal the owner of the web site when it can be clearly demonstrated that their IP addresses are hosting inappropriate content, then court orders can fix that, can they not?

if international boundaries are a problem, then involve the government of the hosting country, if said government won't co-operate or their laws don't adequately cater for prosecuting inappropriate internet content and/or exploitation of children etc, then cut diplomatic ties with that country or block every web site hosted in that country or with that company, or drop the routes completely.

what? that's too much? ahem??? I'm sorry! I thought we were fucking *serious* about stopping child pornography, or is that just a lie to put internet filters into place?

Seems to me to be absolutely fucking stupid to be blocking the web sites themselves when the authorities should be going after the people that run the web sites.

as it stands, even if proposed internet filters *did* work and it *did* block 100% of every bit of child porn on the net in some magical way, it still doesn't mean children have been made safe - those children will still be exploited, regardless of whether their is an audience or not.

international relations on this matter need to improve if it is quicker to add bad sites to a filter list than it is to get those sites shut down once and for all.

Why go to that much effort to prevent child pornography from being *seen* (when those mechanisms can be easily bypassed anyway) when those resources could go to stopping the people *creating* and hosting it in the first place?

oh, and if the people actually doing it are caught, you might actually discover the other thousands of web sites they operate or visit that you did not have on your filter, and you might find all the other mechanisms other than via the web that they used to spread their "material" .. ie. blocking individual sites is like the mythical Hydra, you cut one off head and another grows back.

oh and you might just get a list of *other* people they are sharing "material" with if you catch the perpetrators ... ??

And the bottom line is that the people making the "porn" are the people doing the abusing, they don't need to market their "material" to anybody...

so again, how does a "filter" stop child exploitation from actually happening?

it doesn't but it is a very convenient way for politicians to pretend that they have done something by stopping others from seeing it.

well done, fucktards...

adherence to the TEN commandments (christianity flaws #1)

while the ten commandments may just be part of the whole christian thing, perhaps even the entire basis of its moral lessons, however, the TEN commandments are NOT the point of christianity, not at all, yet some christians choose to put the ten commandments out in front of them as if they are the *most* significant part of christianity...

the basis of what christ taught, apparently, was that golden rule thing, "Do unto others"

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Golden_Rule

but what do I often see? ten commandments this, ten commandments that, put the ten commandments up in the school, inside the courtroom, out the front of the court, recite them to yourself before school, recite them out loud, learn them off by heart, blah ra ra ra b lah blah ..

but Jesus did not teach the ten commandments, he taught two.

If you hold the ten commandments in higher esteem than the TWO COMMANDMENTS that Jesus taught, then you are not following christianity.

And please don't tell me that you don't know what those two commandments are!

If you don't realise that much about your religion, then you have totally and utterly missed the point of christianity, in short, you have your religion wrong, *very* wrong.. :-(

the *message* Jesus taught is the point of the christianity - when it comes to christianity *NOTHING* said by anybody else in the bible is to be taken as some higher authority than what Jesus actually taught.

And Jesus taught, according to the gospels and "Saint" Paul, Jesus taught that we are to love everyone (love thy neighbour; do unto others), and that there is no commandment higher than that...

*nothing* outranks "DO UNTO OTHERS" in christianity, *not* your TEN commandments, NOT your LEVITICUS abomination diatribe, NOT your precious "Saint" Paul, NOT your random bible quotes you decide to throw at non-believers like it is supposed to mean something...

NOTHING outranks Jesus and his teachings, not even *god* as christians are supposed to speak to god via Jesus!!

and the simple reason for all of this, which obviously some christians are so fucking stupid they still don't get it, is that...

Jesus loves everybody..

it's certainly not rocket science, but it *does* show the true nature of the christian beast in this widespread ignorance of the simplicity in Jesus' message..

what! what do you mean?

i'm thinking that those "christians" with their *ten* commandments held so proudly high, don't like the niceness of all this "love thy neighbour" stuff, it's too "trusty", too "soppy", too "touchy feely", too "ra ra ra", it's TOO GAY, it's TOO UNMANLY, it's NOT BUTCH enough, it's TOO "I DON'T GET TO SHOOT SOMETHING AND/OR STAB IT TO DEATH", all in all, it's TOO frikking nice for the selfish christian ...

so if you hold the ten commandments, or anything else in the bible for that matter, above the two commandments that Jesus taught then .. ahem ... ...

this flaw with christian thinking leads to IDOLATRY because you've made up your own version of Jesus/god to follow, not the Jesus dude in the bible, in short, you ainst following Jesus Christ if you think the TEN COMMANDMENTS are the most important thing to christianity.

Do Unto others (christianity flaws #0)

at a guess, it would seem that most christians have their religion correct, at the very least, they have it mostly correct enough to not bring attention to themselves that others notice that they don't actually have it "correct"!

but the most of them, are not as loud as the least of them, not by a long shot.

Any true christian would not have a problem with anything I could say about their religious stories, if they did have a problem then they lack the very faith that they are bragging they have!

And the easiest way to put a rabid blabberingly braggingly annoying christian in their place?

Remind them of Jesus' *highest* commandment!

That commandment being "Do unto others" (Bible quotes below)

now i don't count the "love thy god" 1st commandment, as being a commandment, as there is no practical benefit to it for the non-believer, and from what i understand, you "love god" by following the "Do unto others" commandment anyway... Two birds, one stone, so you *only* need to follow the 2nd of Jesus' commandments to be a good christian, as you follow the 1st commandment by following the 2nd.

But the "do unto others" teaching, isn't an exclusively Jesus thing, it's in the old testament of the bible, in Leviticus of all places.

Leviticus 19:18 Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself: I [am] the LORD.

In fact, forget the bible and any other religion that has touted the golden rule of "do unto others" because this very simple concept is probably the very basis of human civilisation!!!

We were able to evolve a sense of being able to trust someone as humans made their way forward to this point in history that we are at now because we shared stuff, we co-operated, we helped each other where we could, we taught each-other concepts far beyond simple everyday tasks.

This trust evolved not from things we *said* - but from things we *did* - we showed that we could trust other people, and in return, they were able to trust us, we did unto others as we would have them do unto us!

Civilisation could not have developed if we were not able to trust each other.

For all the wars and other carry-on throughout the millennia, we were able to make it through all of that because some of us banded together and we co-operated!!

So, in terms of christianity, if you see someone purporting to be a "christian", ask them, is their behaviour indicative of something that Jesus taught?

is their behaviour in the spirit of their very own Lord and Saviour's HIGHEST commandment, that being, that we do unto others as we would have them do unto us?

is the behaviour they show toward you, the same behaviour that they *want* you to show toward them?

ask them the above questions... ask them if this is how Jesus wanted them to behave...

And when they retort back at you with ten commandments this, Leviticus abomination that, or some "Saint" Paul thing or they start quoting revelations, you can say to them, "Excuse me, but no, you are wrong... Jesus' HIGHEST commandment was "do unto others", NOTHING out ranks it.. NOTHING at all, if you can't follow that commandment, then you are simply NOT a christian..."

Matthew 22:36-40 (36) Master, which [is] the great commandment in the law? (37) Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. (38) This is the first and great commandment. (39) And the second [is] like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. (40) On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

Mark 12:29-31 (29) And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments [is], Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord: (30) And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this [is] the first commandment. (31) And the second [is] like, [namely] this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.

Luke 10:27 And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.

John 13:34 A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.

John 15:12 This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.

so *Each* of the gospels have this, so does James

James 2:8 If ye fulfil the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well:

and so does "Saint" Paul

Romans 13:9 For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if [there be] any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

Galatians 5:14 For all the law is fulfilled in one word, [even] in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

John even insists on going on about it a bit more too

1 John 2:7-11 (7) Brethren, I write no new commandment unto you, but an old commandment which ye had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word which ye have heard from the beginning. (8) Again, a new commandment I write unto you, which thing is true in him and in you: because the darkness is past, and the true light now shineth. (9) He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness even until now. (10) He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him. (11) But he that hateth his brother is in darkness, and walketh in darkness, and knoweth not whither he goeth, because that darkness hath blinded his eyes.

1 John 3:23-24 (23) And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment. (24) And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.

1 John 4:20-21 (20) If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen? (21) And this commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God love his brother also.

2 John 1:5-6 (5) And now I beseech thee, lady, not as though I wrote a new commandment unto thee, but that which we had from the beginning, that we love one another. (6) And this is love, that we walk after his commandments. This is the commandment, That, as ye have heard from the beginning, ye should walk in it.

Revelations 22:14 Blessed [are] they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.

ie. the most important thing that Jesus taught was "do unto others", which wasn't original, but it seems that way too many "christians" don't seem to acknowledge this with all the rubbish they have on their online pages and profiles.... like below, the first christian on twitter, the VERY first i could find when i had the idea to see how much flash and how little substance would be displayed by a christian...

i believe the problem with some christians is that "do unto others" is too boring for some, or perhaps it's too "gay" for them? unmanly? too nice even?

I'm guessing that merely praising Jesus is a rush.

a life *affirmation* that you can say to feel better instantly!

Because, actually doing something doesn't give the believer an instant "fix" or "high" or "rush", because "do unto others" actually requires that you actually do something, and the timing of that something, is going to happen at an indeterminate time in the future so you don't know when you'll get your fix from being good...

and that's a timing the junkie just can't handle

the christjunky needs his fix *NOW*, NOW NOW NOW, hence all the superfluous praise sustains the HIGH, which ends up being the only thing they do, thus the whole useful point of christanity in it's central and highest theme of "do unto others", falls to the way side ...

Check out the idolatry, assumptions, judge-mentality, festering hate, impracticality and most importantly, the SELFISHNESS of this particular "christian"....

I love christians, nothing makes me happier than when am at church and God is moving. i love non christians too-i was one.

do you think you love homosexuals more than i? why wont you warn them that they are in danger then?

He is the Prince of peace, NOT THE UN.

Jesus came to save us, while we were stil sinners, he is the Way, the Truth and the Life, he is the Ladder that Jacob saw, he is the Prince.

He who spoke the world into being, He made the angels, he made the earth and every creature in them.

He who sits upon the circle of the Earth, the Almighty God, who hangs the earth upon nothing, He who stretches the Universe on one hand.

Jesus is the son of David, the Lord of David, the Groom.

Jesus is the Lamb of God, the Word of God, and the Word was God, the Lamb who takes away the sins of the world, the Lion of Judah.

I cant explain who he is, He is my Lord and my Saviour, my Messiah, my King, my High Priest, my Defender, my Protector, my Creator.

The word of God, the Alpha and the Omega, he who walks among the golden lamp stands, the First and the Last

the deciples asked Jesus, 'show us the Father(God)'. His answer was 'I have been with you all this time..'

Jesus is the Lord of Glory, the King of kings, the Mighty God, the Great I AM, The Lord of lords, the Lord of hosts.

Jesus called himself the Son of man, the Son of God. The prophets called him the Messiah.

I think us humans cant define who is man and who aint, why would we doubt the one who made human beings. He can define us.

Jesus said, "before Abraham I am", he created Abraham, he created Moses, he created Adam, he created you and me for his pleasure.

Everything was made by him and for him. Jesus the Creator

Can you say IDOLATRY?

it's one thing to follow some religious figure, but this one person in the space of a few hours twittered all of these comments, but not once has he actually said what Jesus' message was about... not once did he actually show compassion and understanding, in fact, showed the opposite with his attitude towards gays with his "why won't you warn them" speak, which I can only assume to mean as "why don't you warn them that they are going to hell" ??

especially when this same fellow went on to say the next day...

(Homosexuals/lesbians) are filled with murder. FILLED: Its inside them waiting 2 happen. school/college shootings. THEY HAVE NO CONSCIENCE

see what idolatry does? it makes you holier than thou... sadly, the idolater does not realise they commit idolatry.

to this person i would say that the name "Jesus" means nothing, if all you do is praise his name, it means *nothing* to just say this praise, this isn't spreading *the* word, you're spreading a bunch of *words*... petty and pretty phrases to make people feel warm and fuzzy is all that you have got

Is it because you are afraid of the enormity of the universe and how insignificant you would be if you didn't have a special connection with the creator of the universe?

All the while claiming moral superiority over people who don't believe the same thing that you believe in, and that non-believers will suffer in hell for all eternity for simply not believing?

Can you say SELFISHNESS?

You don't know shit about the after life, nobody does, but you assume you do with this "god" answer, but by thinking this, you've completely bypassed the teachings of this Jesus you supposedly have learnt your morals from, and just because you say "Praise Jesus" you are bathed in the glory that is Christ, all the while you have not once displayed the true compassion for someone that your Christ allegedly displayed!!

and ya know, being selfish isn't a characteristic of doing unto others as you would have them do unto you, in fact, it's quite the opposite to put yourself and your assumptions that *you* just happen to be worshipping the *correct* god before the opinion of everyone else.

How do you know your god is god? How do you know your Jesus is Jesus? you do not, so the safest thing to do, if you *must* believe, is to actually follow the teachings and not brag that you are the one who is going to heaven, while everyone else is bound for hell...

A truly compassionate person would respect every person's beliefs, and being a curious human being and all, that most of us supposedly are, we would ask them all about their religion, and you know, if they felt like talking about something else, that should be cool with you too, but the fact is, you'll probably learn something if you actually ask questions and not be offended if those same questions are asked of your religion, or lack thereof

All in all, "do unto others" is pretty fucking simple, seems a shame to let it get lost in a book that many people say they are following, but clearly they are not...

i sometimes wonder if too many people saw that Ten Commandments movie and that's all they thought was needed to know about christianity....

the religious should not read these blogs, they *will* be offended

these are my rantings about religion - i speak fluent sarcasm - know this when you are reading and it will save you some heartache.
