if the bible is to believed, then it's true, the ancients did not need faith, Jesus performed miracles by the hundreds for them...
Matthew 4:23 And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people. 24 And his fame went throughout all Syria: and they brought unto him all sick people that were taken with divers diseases and torments, and those which were possessed with devils, and those which were lunatick, and those that had the palsy; and he healed them.
Moses turned the waters into blood at god's command
Exodus 7:20 And Moses and Aaron did so, as the LORD commanded; and he lifted up the rod, and smote the waters that [were] in the river, in the sight of Pharaoh, and in the sight of his servants; and all the waters that [were] in the river were turned to blood.
and Moses also parted the waters
Exodus 14:21 And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the LORD caused the sea to go [back] by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea dry [land], and the waters were divided.
and Noah did that two animal thing with Captain Stubing and The Love Boat, but we don't need to quote all of them as my point is made.
Now this god, supposedly, is never changing, the perfect god, so... why doesn't this god dude come back - or send his proxy again and do some more miracles? the ancients did not have to take the word of someone, so why should we take the word of people making speculations that god is so amazing?
oh... I know... sure it's very likely that the bible is based upon actual events and actual people, but two thousand years and not one miracle? come on!! could it be that the bible is full of exaggerations and anecdotes and tall tales? Oh OK! I lie, some angels came and saw Humammad, I mean Muhammad (peace be under him), about 610AD I think it was, so no contact from god in 1400 years...
Suffice to say, the ancients did not *need* to have faith, god was smiting stuff left right and centre and healing people and all sorts of godly shit all over the place, so much for this never changing god
(ps. i think i got this idea off of someone, my apologies to that person as I can't remember who it was, but it's an excellent point that is worthy of repeating, so credit to them! :)
